Hi Mike,

I've told a bunch of people about this but I can't make it myself. Baby got sick and I need to help out...

FYI, since I haven't heard back from anyone about hosting the meetup at Amazon, I've moved the meetup time and location to the Tap House beginning at 8pm tonight.

There are also 16 tickets remaining for the Amazon event tonight, so please RSVP if you'd like to come http://www.eventbrite.com/event/7757774713/ . For some reason, the original hyperlink I posted isn't working, so you may have to copy and paste the whole link rather than just clicking on it. I hope to see everyone tonight.

Hi folks

Amazon is holding a networking event in Bellevue that coincides with our meetup on Thursday. I've been asked to attend to talk with developers about the experience of working in such a large-scale and challenging environment. Unfortunately, this means I won't be able to host the meetup on Thursday at the SLU campus in Seattle.

What this does mean, however, is that I'll be at the Tap House Grill in Bellevue from 4-8pm with free beer and cool swag for any non-Amazonians who want to come down and chat about Groovy and Grails and other technologies at Amazon scale. There are limited spots (but still plenty available, as of now) so you'll need to reserve your spot at the following link: http://www.eventbrite.com/event/[masked]/ . Seriously, read the info, because there will be some cool stuff at the event (like free Kindles and AWS credits- and did I mention free beer?).

Now, for those of you who are allergic to bridges or already work at Amazon, it would be great for an Amazonian to take over hosting duties at the SLU campus on Thursday. There has to be at least one Amazon employee in order to hold the meetup there (just to be responsible for the room and the equipment and make sure the lights are out and doors are locked when everyone leaves). If you're interested in hosting, please let me know. I'll happily take care of the pizza and drinks order if I know there will be people there- you just need to let me know you'll be there.

Otherwise, we can hold an informal meetup at the Tap House in Bellevue after the Amazon event. If anyone is interested in meeting up, I'm willing to hang around from 8-9pm to drink beer and chat with folks about my latest adventures with Spring Security in Grails and Groovy AST transformations or whatever you've been up to. And if you want to pay for your own beer and ask questions about Amazon, I'm up for that, too.

Hope to hear from you soon or see you at the Tap House on Thursday.

Mike
