What would you like to get out of this meetup group?

To meet with other hackers and makers to collaboratively organize Seattle area hackathons to accelerate innovation and promote startups working at the intersection of technology and the built environment. We organized a very successful AEC Hackathon www.aechackathon.com at UW last year and have organized 6 other architecture, engineering and construction hackathons around the U.S. Our next AEC Hackathon will take place on September 25-27, 2015 at UW's Center for Education and Research in Construction. I am also leading the organization of Virtual Reality Hackathon together with a team of co-organizers in the Seattle Area and San Francisco www.vrhackathon.com

What are your primary skills and/or areas to hack on? (e.g. front-end, back-end, UX, UI, hardware, graphics, etc.)

Digital Fabrication, Robotics, 3D software, perceptual computing technologies, and connecting people globally from diverse domains interested in hacking the built environment in which we all live, work and play.

What are your favorite tools? (e.g. languages, frameworks, devices, software, conceptual models, etc.)

The 3D web, robots, software, communities of innovatoin, travel.

What's something cool you've built recently? (it's okay if you haven't)

We fabricated the wood stage for the TED event in Vancouver, BC - see a video here. http://blog.ted.com/how-we-built-our-pop-up-ted-theater/ Extremely green homes using robotics. Immersive home configuration software (together with software engineers on my team) using an Oculus Rift and Razor Hydras and ESRI's City Engine.

If you've been to hackathons in the past, what was the best you've ever been to?

I have been to many Hackathons and have helped organize 7 AEC Hackathons and am currently leading the organization of a Virtual Reality Hackathon in Seattle on June 19-21st at UW.
