Node.JS - How did we get here?

Hello everyone,

We're excited for an awesome Node.jS meet up this month! We'll start with meet and greet time, sharing what's cool, and a great talk. This time Grant will give us an introduction and bit of history to help us answer "Why Node.JS?" This talk is a great way to get in the pool for those just starting to poke around with node or even help those on the fence decide if it's worth the time. For those already in the deep end learn some of the awesome history that got us here.

How Did We Get Here?
Evented, asynchronous, the Reactor Pattern - n
ode's threadless development model feels miles away from most of the tools in the modern network programmer's arsenal.  What are the challenges that shaped node's design?  Why did server-side javascript develop such an immediate and passionate following?  Join Grant Goodale, founder at Massively Fun, on a Connections-style trip through the early days of network programming in an effort to answer the question "How did we get here?".

6:30 PM Pizza, Beer & Noding it up.
7:00 PM Show and Tell (bring something cool or a neat question if you want to share)
7:30 PM How did we get here? A brief history of the world.

Thanks,
Kav
