Berry Production Farm Walk

Join us at the peak of harvest to learn about J4 Ranch’s organic berry production with John Rogers and Jose Fernandez. J4 Ranch realized their mission to convert a conventional apple and raspberry farm into a 100% certified organic, top quality blue-, black- and raspberry operation. Commitment and attention to organic values guide their farm and business plans, including USDA organic certification, and Salmon Safe practices.

Walk the 103 acre farm and learn about J4’s earth-friendly, agricultural practices: how they use satellites for farm design and tractor work to reduce fuel use; their quality water sourcing; local marketing; and continuing their history of strong employee relations. See how they are realizing their dream to extend the health and well being of life.

Ben Goe, Produce Manager at the 11,000-membership, 40-year-old Skagit Valley Food Cooperative (SVFC), will be on hand to describe successful organic berry marketing from packing, packaging, presentation and delivery for freshness and quality. After the farm walk, there will be an opportunity to visit the SVFC produce department with Ben.

Whoa, sorry. We had car trouble and can't make it to the berry farm tomorrow. I am so sorry. My honey and I really wanted to make it!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
