Come to a permaculture party and class to re-do a portion of a North Seattle front yard!
We are super excited about this project. My friend, Carrie, has been dreaming it into existence for a few years now! This is phase I of several, designed by Sean Corwin to support Carrie's intensive use of this small house and lot. Carrie has an extensive rain barrel system and Solar Panels recently installed and a lot of food production already happening on her tiny lot. She now wants to take it to the next step. Join us in making that happen! In addition, Sean will discuss the details of his plan including design for growing a local food culture in the neighborhood. I will present some key pieces of Social Permaculture.
We are looking for 2 more able-bodied people to join the other 7 who are interested in spending the day participating in the implementation of my new permaculture design. All the prep work will have been completed and we will be primarily building a rain garden, an herb spiral, and doing some planting of food bearing plants. We are looking for a firm commitment from people to participate for the full day.
Please email us if you can commit at [masked] or Bill Aal at [masked] and you'll get the address to the site.
I will provide a simple lunch of soup, bread. and salad. I will also have some hot beverages available. If you require anything specific to fit your needs, please bring it along. The meal will be gluten free and dairy free. Please dress for any type of weather and of course in clothes that are appropriate for garden work
In exchange for your work, there will be a 'workshop' with information on permaculture principles including soil building, water systems overflow, habitat creation, beneficial insects, fertility compost, and other specifics to my design. This information may prove invaluable to you within your own garden. If you have a shovel that you could bring, it would also be much appreciated.
