Hello Wonderful SPG Meetup Folks,
Hope everyone is well and enjoying the Autumn rains (& snow!). Please suggest an SPG Meetup and post your permaculture-related social events, movie nights, work/learn parties, and classes/workshops. We're trying to accommodate all things permaculture!
Also, I want to clarify that Friends of Beacon Food Forest is currently looking for Design Team or Individual for Educational Sign Project. They request all Letters of Interest, Qualifications, and Links to Work BY WED., Oct. 31, 2012. I cannot figure out how to delete that date. See information below.
Thanks for All of Your Great Work,
FRIENDS OF BEACON FOOD FOREST EDUCATIONAL SIGN PROJECT SEEKS DESIGN TEAM or INDIVIDUAL
October 5, 2102
The Friends of Beacon Food Forest seeks a design team or individual to help create interpretive signs for the Beacon Food Forest site. These signs will be educational in permaculture practices and principles, as well as illustrative and demonstrating scientific concepts. The signs will relay to people who visit the Food Forest the interconnectedness of all things. Qualifications include experience in graphic design, community meetings, illustration, sign making or public education, and collaborating with a team.
Creating the signs will involve a community design meeting to receive community input. It will also involve coordination with a subcommittee of the Friends Beacon Food Forest for coordination, input, edits on drafts, translation, final sign designs, coordinating with manufacturer, and information for grant reporting. The project will be implemented through a community process.
The Beacon Food Forest educational sign project is funded by a grant from the Sustainable Path Foundation, www.sustainablepath.org. The Friends of Beacon Food Forest is a volunteer community group which is creating a permaculture community forest garden in Seattle on Beacon Hill. Site development is currently under way and community participation is great. We initiated ground making on September 29,, 2012 with over 100 volunteers, 14 wheelbarrows, 35 yards + of mulch and compost, and enthusiasm.
The Beacon Food Forest project has received a lot of support and recognition for this ground-breaking project on public land. The signs will receive a lot of exposure. If you are interested in working with us, please send a letter of interest with qualifications and links to your work to [address removed] by October 31, 2012. We will interview selected design teams by the mid- November and begin our work together shortly thereafter. The result will be an engaged community, 6- 7 high quality laminated/manufactured signs for the first phase of the Beacon Food Forest, an educated community and an enhanced Beacon Food Forest
The pay for design services is $4000, and great exposure for your work.
