This is an all day event with plenty of photo ops for everyone. Let's meetup at 11am on the backside (south side) of Uwajimaya. After a short introduction we will head out to enjoy the festivities. You may stay as long as you'd like. There will be food, music, a dragon dancing through the streets and blessing the shops for the new year, and lots more.

Parking will be crazy so I suggest parking downtown and taking a bus into Chinatown.

We had a great turnout, the weather cooperated with us, and the festivities and food were fantastic. I really love the all the photos that are being uploaded by the club members. You all are very talented and should be proud of your work shared today. I think the challenge was to find something unique that shows that spirit of the festival and you did just that even with the crowd. Kudos to all of you!

It was one of those events where it was nearly impossible to stick with everyone, so it was everyman for himself. Anita, I saw Richard (did you get your coffee??). I ended up buying lunch in the Food Market in Uwajimaya, as the lines were shorter there. Otherwise it was a good event, fortunately the rain held off. Ran into a few people I knew.

I think I saw Richard (where's the coffee) in the crowd today.

The $2 tasting menu was a dissapointing last year. I'll suggest to save your money and have a hearty lunch on a restaurant.

This is another of my favorites, don't forget to ask for an order of chicken wings.

Bon appetit and happy photo shooting!

I didnt try much of the 2 buck food, but the one place I did try - the Ocean City Restaurant was AWWWWWWE=SOME! Seriously, I'm going back for the sweet and sour when the crowds aren't insane.

I will be running late as well so I'll get straight to shooting once I'm in ID. Would anybody be interested in getting together for lunch at some point during the day?

I am running late as well and will go directly clicking. Say hi, if you see a skinny indian guy with a dirty backpack and a camera.

Anyone who is already on the ID, I am sitting in the bleachers near the stage. Parade is slated to start at 11 so I will find the group.

I am really sorry to cancel at last second. It does not start well my participation in the group! We just bought a new puppy and did not think it was that much work in the first days! It is like a practice for a real baby.

Despite my hopes, I am still too sick for this meetup.

I read somewhere in the Seattle Times that the Lion & Snake dances would open and close the event, so they will be "performing" at 11am. That said, I don't want to miss it since I doubt I'll stay the entire day, so I will be heading directly to the park instead of Uwajamaya. My cell is[masked] if anyone wants to meet up.

I've been fighting a cold this week. I changed my RSPV, but depending how I feel tomorrow, I might show up. I might be just running a bit late. Hope to see you all there!

I'll be there -- thanks for the suggestion Kevin to take Light Rail! I'll be the Nikon Nerd with the Black Rapid strap. I will also check in through the Iphone App (and encourage other to do so locating where you are when you checkin).

With so many people (other than this group) potentially being at the park, how will we know each other? Will someone be there with a special identifier?

    February 8, 2013

    • Dorrena O.

Camera? ;-) No, I'm not wearing a name tag and I doubt anyone else will. We will be meeting on the south side of Uwajimaya and then dispersing out to photograph and enjoy the celebration. Don't be afraid to ask people if they belong to the club.

Alternate transportation suggestion for folks living south of Seattle. Park your car near a Link Light Rail station and take Link to the Chinatown station. You will be just a couple of blocks from Uwajimaya.
