When and how did you become aware that you're an HSP? And how did you learn about our group?

I've almost always known I was on the extreme end of...something, but just thought it was a result of my background. As an organizer of a couple other meetup groups, I hoped there was one for HSPs in Seattle, so I looked and there you are.

Have you read any of Elaine Aron's books about the HSP trait? Which ones?

So far, only the first.

How have you experienced being an HSP? Please share a couple of examples of how being Highly Sensitive affects your life.

After working at a 3-day seminar this weekend, I'm taking a couple days off to recover in silence. Mostly I avoid crowds, but if I have to be in one for some reason, I keep to the edges. I choose to sit in the back of theatres, the opera house, etc

What sort of activities do you enjoy? Besides just "meeting to talk," what sort of activities (if any) would you enjoy, as part of an HSP meetup group?

I'd rather read than do almost anything else, and enjoy checking out interesting things on the internet. It would be fun to have quiet parties, strolls in nature without constant chatter, company at ballet, concerts, opera (from the last row), etc.

What do you hope to get from your membership in our HSP meetup? (i.e. friendship, activity partners, support, networking, etc)

Friendships and activity partners, fun & laughter.

Finding out there is a real term for being highly sensitive, and that there are other people with the same reactions, is a relief - I just thought (hoped) I was nearly normal with a few unusual quirks that other people didn't have.
