Cougar Mt Bear Ridge 10 or 15 mile options

  • December 2, 2012 · 7:30 AM
  • Red Town Trailhead at Cougar Mt. UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED

The Seattle Running Club hosts a trail run every Sunday beginning at 7:30 AM. These are generally 12 to 15 miles long over hilly terrain, with a wide range of paces. All runners -- club members and nonmembers alike -- are welcome, though we encourage regular attendees to join the club. (Membership info is available at
www.seattlerunningclub.org.) Our "default" location is the Red Town trailhead at Cougar Mountain; the run organizers will leave a comment here if going elsewhere on any given Sunday. People are also encouraged to use comments to offer carpooling assistance, etc. More information, including a map of our usual Cougar routes and directions to the Red Town trailhead, is available at
www.seattlerunningclub.org.

Great group. Tried short and long route. Looks like that worked well. Open to any feedback.

Super fun! I liked having both distance options, too... it was nice to be able to decide what worked best for my morning, but still have the group to run with. Thanks for coordinating!

I really, really hated to miss this. Le - thanks so much for offering me a lift. My dog Angie was a super-great runner in her youth - loved the mountain trails - but now is 13 and had an injury yesterday that's requiring me to hang with her.

Sorry for seeming confused, but does this mean we are still meeting at Red Town and running to Bear Ridge or is Bear Ridge the location we will begin from?

    • Steven K.

I am also a little confused.

Just heard from Win, we are meeting at Red Town trail head (usual meetup).

I used to do this run with the SRC 6 years ago. At that time we would meet on Capitol Hill and carpool. Is anyone interested in doing this - I don't have a working vehicle, but have $$$ for fuel. I posted a similar question 2 weeks ago and got no responses, so I won't push the idea further, but thought I'd try one last time. I would have loved to have done the run yesterday, but did the Seattle Marathon instead for this reason. No biggy - my car wil be fixed someday and I'll start running with you all.

Yeah - it's funny you should bring this up Scott, because I talked to Brian Morrison at Fleet Feet on Tuesday and he said he's interested in getting a group together to meet there on a regular basis again after a couple year hiatus. Angela and I are debating Sunday at this point b/c of nagging injuries, but you might message Brandon Sack, who lives close by as well and is RSVP'd.

Oh, and I should clarify that the group isn't meeting at fleet feet yet, but Brian hopes to start it back up as a regular meeting place after the first of the year.

Where is Bear Ridge in relation to Red Town? Is it one of the trailheads?

I am also in lake forest park Murray and can pick you up. I will be bringing my dog with me. Hopefully you are ok with that. He sits in the very back though so shouldn't bother you.

I am in Lake Forest Park at the north end of Lake Washington. Either I-5 or 405 work for me. I like to car pool for all of the social, economic and environmental benefits.
