This is a group for two kinds of people: software developers who want to practice in order to get better at interviewing, and software managers who want to practice in order to get better at performing an interview. Here are our goals:
Help developers to get better at the SDE/SDET through mock interviewing sessions. Getting better means becoming more comfortable with the environment, questions at varying levels of difficulty, and marketing one's self.
Help managers to get better at the SDE/SDET through mock interviewing sessions. Getting better for these people means finding the sweet spot on how to get smart people who get things done into the door.
We're going to achieve these goals by doing the following:
Attract those who have had success in both interviewing others and that have had success in being interviewed to attend and coach.
Search for and attempt to apply the best ideas available for interviewing and being interviewed.
Performing mock interviews. Our goal here is to interview with a small number of people at a time, breaking into small groups if need be.
Giving constructive feedback both when interviewing and being interviewed. It goes without saying that our aim is to be sensitive to those who are still becoming more comfortable being interviewed or interviewing. Especially since I consider myself (sean) one of those people.
