Script Reading

We'll meet again to read and review each other's work. Please let me know if you have a screenplay you'd like to share. Thanks to everyone who came to "Restart."

We're also looking for speakers/presenters from the local film scene to talk or teach. If you have suggestions, please contact me.

PS: The EMAIL lists the time as 9:30pm – 11pm, which despite this (ECT), is bound to cause confusion. Might want to keep on top of that.

Thanks for noting that, I don't know what's going on there. Congrats on your student, and stay in touch with us.

Man, I would love to attend, but alas I am over in Ecuador now. Perhaps sometime in the future, it would be interesting to see if one could participate in something a meeting like this virtually (and virtuously) via Skype.

In the meantime, some good news: my Ecuadorian student protégé, Daniel, whose screenplay I have been guiding along for the last 18 months, picked up his fifth honor, an invitation to partake in a screenwriting workshop in Havana.

Below is a trailer for a documentary made by my other students on the Austrian Eric Spitzer's tour of Ecuador in 2011, to be broadcast from Vienna sometime this year. Eric, a professional musician, does the sound engineering and composition for Werner Herzog's films:

Hey group! I am submitting my screenplay to the Sundance Screenwriter's Lab again this year and was thinking of bringing in my application materials for you to read over. Any notes would be helpful. The application consists of a synopsis and an artistic statement. Would this be something you all would help me with? I could really use a fresh set of eyes. Thanks and see you soon!

You've all named a favorite screen writer in your profiles; if you don't have work to share, consider bringing in an example of screenwriting you admire. We'll read it and discuss what we can learn from it.
