This group is for anyone working on a screenplay. We are focused on the work itself, not the final film or the sales process.
This is a lab for writing, which means caring about character and plot - which are one and the same.
Work in all forms is eligible for sharing, from the kernel of an idea to a polished draft.
Our standard meeting features readings with time for questions and feedback; generally not more than three pieces per meeting. You do not need to share writing in order to attend.
Post in the meeting thread to get on the agenda. Tell us what you are sharing and what medium (feature film, TV series, animated short, etc.) and genre (comedy, drama, sci-fi etc.) your piece belongs in. Bring copies of your work (up to ten pages, less is usually enough and in fact better) for everyone to read from. You are encouraged to bring or post online a synopsis for critique or to supplement your script.
Writers need to hear the results of their labors, so the group will generally read your work aloud. You will receive 30-40 minutes of attention, so use your time wisely.
Do you want feedback on a complete script, or other work in excess of ten pages? Please post work online in our Google Share Drive, let people know with a list serve email or note in the Message Board. Members can contact a host about a separate, full script reading or schedule one themselves using the home page.
The Seattle Screenwriters file sharing folder is through here. Only members may access this page.
