Description: We can launch at Bayview State Park and cross over the Padilla Bay to Saddlebag Island.
Details: There is a very low tidal exchange this weekend. The low tide is only 3 feet at 8 am so we will launch at 9am and paddle the 6 miles over to Saddlebag Island and set up camp and have lunch. Then we can have time for an afternoon paddle and/or hike around the island. Sunday we can get up, hike around take a short paddle, and have lunch before we paddle back over around 1 pm. We should be off the water by 3:30 and can head for home or a short stop for dinner.
Parking/Restroom Information: We will launch at Bayview so you will have to have a Discovery pass and pay for overnight parking so lets try to carpool and save some cash. There are restrooms at the park and a vault toilet over on Saddlebag.
Camping Info: There are only 2 sites and 3 overflow sites on the island so we will keep the group small. Bring some cash for the $12 fee per site. Campfires are available . We will have a big tarp in case we get some wet weather. This paddle will not cancel because a little rain so don't sign up if you are just going to cancel if it rains. That counts as a no show. However, if we have a big storm that carries a high wind warning I will have a alternate Saturday paddle ready and will let you know when we get closer. We will have a group dinner Saturday night and a group lunch Sunday before we leave. We will have details as we get closer. Feel free to volunteer if you have a special meal you want to prepare.
Dinner: Leader - Jim Mc - Fiesta night.... Amy, Ron, Jim

SK Rating http://students.washington.edu/ukc/seakayaking/sea_rating.php I am rating this a class 2-3 paddle. If the wind doesn't come up it should be a pretty easy paddle over to the island and wandering around. But it is a open water crossing and you should be ready for immersion and have good rescue skills.
Equipment Requirements: Kayak, paddle, pfd, paddlefloat, pump, sprayskirt, headlamp, charts, navigation gear (compass/gps/??)vhf radio (edit as needed). All you own camping gear. NO WATER available on the island so bring your own water for the weekend.

IMPORTANT - If you have not filled out your profile information in the Sea Kayak Meetup information please do so. Failure to have a completely filled out profile will cause you to be dropped from the paddle.
AND AS USUAL - All my paddles are one strike you're out... I will monitor the site up to 3 hours before we launch for cancellations. (for this paddle the cut off will be Wednesday before the paddle unless an emergency happens) But if we launch and I haven't heard from you that is a no show and you will no longer be welcome on my trips. Please don't sign up unless you really think you can attend. It isn't fair for the other paddlers. As usual, I will manage the trip numbers based on extra organizers and the paddle experience of the people who sign up. So jump on the waiting list because I frequently up the attendees. Thanks.
