chuckanut Bay Paddle

The weather looks great so let's have a leisurely paddle exploring Chuckanut bay.  We'll meet at 9:30 and be ready to launch by 10:00am from Bellingham at the Marine Park, just west of the Community Boat Center (Link below).  We'll catch the tail end of the flood which slacks at 10:17 and then use the ebb for our journey south to Wildcat Cove.   We can decide to take our time and follow the shore and then the bay on our way down or on the way back while we check out Teddy Bear cove and the two islands.  We'll have lunch at Wildcat Cove before heading back.

This is a class II/III with some open water crossing the bay.  You must have your own kayak, a dry or wet suit, you must have good bracing, re-entry and rescue skills, and be able to paddle about 14 miles.

Great place! I was hoping that someone would have posted some pictures. Perhaps someone could post some sketches at least.

Great weather, great company, water was perfect. We explored the two small somewhat hidden coves at the south end of the bay, saw lots of other kayakers out and about and had a great time.

The wind forecast improved to light winds and becoming SW up to 10knts in the afternoon - pushing us home. So bring you sun tan, lots of water, and we'll see you at 9:30.

for those coming from the Seattle area, note that 1 lane of the skagit bridge will be closed so expect delays.

This is one of my favorite paddles. I wish I did not have so much work to do around the house.

I'm so excited to paddle around Bellingham again! Looking forward to seeing more starfish and playful seals! What better way to spend Summer than out on the water with new friends!

I'm in! I can take one extra boat on my car plus 4 people if someone wants to carpool with me!

A reminder I'll check the marine forecast Saturday morning by 6:30am. I'll post status at that time so check in the morning. If it looks like a lot of wind, we could just stay in Bellingham bay and cut it a little short, but it is supposed to be a S/SE wind 5-15 and if we get south first before it kicks up, we can use it to push us home. Let me know your comfort level/thoughts. See you Saturday.

Hey Gang! I'm thinking of joining...
Any chance of a carpool early Sat. Seattle to Bellingham and a Sunday afternoon Seattle return?
I want to stay overnight with friends in Bellingham if possible.
    Thanks for considering.
