Come check out the Oru folding kayak

Oru Kayaks is bringing a demo to Seattle.  More info can be found here:

https://www.facebook.com/OruKayak/events

NB:  they have changed the location to Mohai, so double check the link just in case they change it again at the last minute.

If you're not familiar with Oru Kayaks, they're a small startup down in the Bay Area that have designed a Origami-like folding plastic boat that weighs 25 lbs, and folds up into a very compact portfolio shape.

The Oru kayak exceeded my expectations. Tracks well and has good speed for a 12 ft boat. A bar on a strap for foot rests and no thigh pads are the only downsides and those were minor. I want one even though it's a 4 month waitlist.

I just bought a Fast Passage Vapor. Does anyone know anything about the company or that mode?

Hey I have a Vapor too :). From what I know, this company originally had a contract with Necky to produce their carbon fiber boats, but Necky canceled it in favor of producing in China for less. Fast Passage considered using the technology to build under their own name, but bailed after making less than 100 boats. There's a bit more info here:

My bf just bought one. He lives in the Bay area. They weigh about 25# and it's carried like a briefcase until set up. He calls it his origami kayak. He has to kayak in his socks because he can't fit his boots inside. I haven't seen him do a roll in it yet.
    Check out the website.

I had to cancel, just realized I had double booked myself with a watercolor workshop I've already paid for. Too bad, I'd really like to see these! Q

Are you from Seattle or Bellevue? I paint often with a meetup group in Seattle that paints on Thursdays (outside) and Fridays (inside) but I'm in Bellevue so it's hard to get there very often.

I saw one at a put-in (where I was kayaking) on Lake Union on Labor Day. They're very cool!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
