Monday 4/21 Kenmore Paddle & BBQ for those that have their own kayaks

Description: We will paddle at the north end of Lake Washington

It's Sunny, the weather is supposed to be nice on Monday and I'll be back from my business trip, it's time for a paddle and BBQ.

As discussed earlier with the cost of maintaining the gear, I am starting to post events separated into the ones where people borrow gear (I'll charge $10 for those) and ones where people have their own gear (those will remain free).

Lets meet for a  paddle on Lake Washington and the slough. This trip will depend on the weather. We’ll meet at Logboom Park  at 5:30pm for a 60-90 minute evening paddle.

This trip is for those that  have your own kayak,

If you need to borrow a kayak sign up in:

http://www.meetup.com/Seattle-Sea-Kayaking/events/176582552/

The water is warmer this time of year and it's frequently windy, our launch and route is fairly sheltered but we still need to use our heads and our equipment. . If you are signing up in this meetup, I am assuming that you have your own kayak, If you need to borrow one, then sign up in the other event.

Rating: This trip is rated ‘protected’ or SK1. A wet suit or dry suit is advised.

What to bring: [*]Kayak, paddle, Paddle Float and Bilge Pump. [*]PFD,

Clothes for paddling, something that will keep you warm if damp, Kayak Shoes, [*]Change of clothes for after, towel. [*]Rain Hat [*]Lights - at least one white light e.g. headlamp (not a strobe or flashing light) to be mounted on the kayak on worn on the person. Cyalume lights work great because they still work when wet. Fasten them to your kayak with duct tape. [*]Perhaps a power bar or dried figs to munch on. [*]Sense of Humor and fun.

Would you like us all to bring entrees and side dishes, or are we divvying up responsibilities?

Chris, bring something, don't worry what, kayakers are like teenagers they vacuum up whatever is in front of them.

Will there be any means of keeping food warm or should we just bring 'cold' dishes?

    April 17, 2014

    • Saul_K

probably best to bring cold dishes

Update on the bbq, I prefer that we do potluck food, with my need to catch a flight that night, I think bringing the grill will be too much.

This is my first BBQ- what should we bring for food. Is this like a pot luck or bring your own?

I am signed up to go, but just got my rescue German Shepherd on 4/16 and she is very traumatized. If she does not settle down my Sunday I will cancel so I don't leave her alone for an extended period so soon. We will see.

Saul ... I have a tandem. Maybe you could pair me up with someone who needs a kayak and could paddle with me. ... Thanks.

The headline above says this is the signup for those with boats (I've got one) but the text says if you have your own then sign up on the other one: "If you are signing up in this meetup, I am assuming that you need to borrow a kayak, if you have your own, then sign up in the other event." Which is it?

Ron, I'll proof read the posting tonight, I cut and paste and and edit, so their could be a mistake
