Ikkatsu Project; Seattle Movie Premier @ Mountaineers Club

The Ikkatsu Project is about kayaking the Olympic Coast of Washington and mapping the tsunami debris.  You can get tickets on-line at Brown Paper Tickets, link;

http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/302857

The movie will show video footage of kayaking the Washington Coast as well as their research, survey and documentation tasks.

There are movie showings at 7:00 & 9:00 PM, but the shows will sell out fast I'm sure.

I picked the 7:00 PM showing so we can nosh & brew after the show at Pagliacci's Pizza;

Sand Point
6224 Sand Point Way NE, Seattle, WA 98115

I have always wanted to paddle the Washington Coast.  This movie, (hopefully) will show some very valuable tips and insight into planning and conducting one as well as highlight the meaning and importance of Ikkatsu;

We are all one - exploration, education and advocacy in the service of the ocean.

Looking forward to seeing you!

Kevin

    Does anyone need any tickets. I have two that i can't use. Unfortunately I had to go to Oregon for work this week and can't attend. Kevin will have to handle finding seats for everyone instead. :-)

    I was hoping we could meet in the lobby near the book store and introduce ourselves. It would be nice if we could all sit together, I will try to coordinate arrangements if I can. If anyone needs to call, my # is (206)[masked]

    Looking forward to meeting everyone!

    I thought this was a new 4 week sea kyak navigation class so I clicked join but do not see my name on the list of those attending. This is not a navigation class but a one time viewing of a kyaking movie? If I am already a member of the Mountaineers--would I be eligible for a discount on this? Please clarify if this is the first of a 4 week class and if I have joined.

    Anna, this meetup is not actually a kayak trip. It is a movie presented at the mountaineers club about a group of kayakers who traveled along the coast collecting tsunami debris. No kayak required for this one...just your eye glasses if you need them! Make sure you buy tickets in advance.

    will I be OK to use an all-around kayak? So far I never ventured much out into the Sound, just paddled along the coastline... It is double hull, short and wide kayak, not much speed.

    I wanted to point out that Lara originally highlighted this project and identified it. I have been following the topic on Facebok and their blog ever since but Lara deserves credit for creating awareness for it. Thanks Lara!
