Announcing a new Meetup for Seattle Area Sea Kayaking Meetup Group!

What: Blake Island Overnighter - kayak camping trip - Experience required

When: Friday, August 6,[masked]:30 PM

Where: West Seattle - North of Lincoln Park Kayak Launch
6700 Beach Drive SW
Seattle, WA 98136

There is street parking on the public streets near the made up address I posted just north of Lincoln Park on Beach Drive.

We'll be launching on Friday and paddling to Blake Island, returning on Saturday late afternoon, probably launching from West Seattle near Lincoln Park, but I need to nail that down, otherwise we'll be carrying the kayaks on to the ferry and launching from Southworth. Winds are the main factor for that decision. I'll decide on the launch point by August 4th. The slack current is around 8:30pm.
This is a great close in to Seattle kayak camping trip.

We will be crossing a fairly busy shipping channel, which means we need to monitor the VHF radios and stay out of the way.

To go on this trip you will need to wear a drysuit or a wetsuit and have passed at least a self rescue.

We'll do group meals and we'll return on Saturday at about 2pm. I am halping put on the Danskin Triathlon on Sunday and need to be on the starting line there at about 4:30am, which is why we are returning on Saturday around 3-4pm from this trip.

I am bringing kayaks as listed below as well as wetsuits for Saul, Shane, Audra, Michael and Karina.
I will bring wheelsets in case we have to modify the route due to wind.

Fauntleroy to Vashon
5:40 Tillikum
6:00 Sealth
6:25 Issaquah
7:05 Sealth

Vashon to Fauntleroy
so a launch at 6:40 would be great timing, while later gets tougher.
