Winter Pool Sessions

For those of you with boats,

The Washington Kayak Club (WKC.ORG) offers pool practice at several of the Seattle area pools throughout the winter on Wed nights and Sunday mornings. Cost to you varies depending on you having WKC member/non-member status.

For those of you without boats,

The University of Puget Sound offers open pool sessions on Monday and Thursday nights from 8pm-9:45pm pretty much every week(not including holidays and breaks) until late spring. See schedule at http://www.ups.edu/x3312.xml The cost is $10 with use of their whitewater boats. Living in Gig Harbor I will be starting to attend on Thursday nights when the weather goes south in November. Although I can't formally teach at this facility, I can spot you and give you pointers. It's great just to get in one of these boats and paddle around the pool. It will do wonders for your forward stroke and boat handling skills as well as bracing and potentially rolling. All it takes is a little time and commitment. As I tell my students "time in boat" is everything.
