Well I've been getting all these emails about some dude that didn't pay up or missed some kayak trip to Europe.  I haven't participated in any trips but I'm totally interested.  I would have loved to go to Europe!!!  Where was I?  I totally would have taken his place.  Where did you guys go?

Is anyone around this week to kayak. I was thinking about a paddle on greenlake,  I don't have my own kayak so i'd have to rent one.  I'm around during the day on wednesday and Thursday.  I'd live to make some new kayaking friends.

Also I'd be interested in buying a kayak if anyone is looking to sell.  Or renting one for the summer.

Great idea Saul, but you forgot that you are in Seattle.  No one in this town is going to confront anyone or publicly speak their mind.  Gotta leave that to those loudmouth  East-coasters (hi bob!).

Hopefully things get resolved with Casey.  If not, she will learn soon enough just how small this town really is when word of her actions reach the Mountaineers, NWOC, WKC along with all of the other Meetup groups.

Keep us all posted on how things turn out.  If anything, we can look forward to more of John's childish ranting.  :)

Good morning

While I believe that we tend to rely on the police and the courts too much
for what are more or less social issues, if Jeff Skilling had gotten heat
rather than acceptance at his country club, Enron may not have been the
ugly mess that it was. If thaat person you recognized that threw litter
out of their car window heard from you rather than from the police, they'd
probably stop sooner. I think that our habit of using courts tends to
create weird incentives where people look at the cost as just another cost
of doing what they do.  I also am accutely aware that my habit of not
requiring money in advance can backfire, and on bigger trips I will
require money pre trip, and require accounts to be settled each day(even
though this means I have to keep more detailed records to "prove" that the
money is not income, but is simply a reimbursement, during an IRS audit.
While I appreciate the helpful suggestions and the passion on the
financial issue, I'd also appreciate if we moved on to more kayaking
related topics.

We still need more people to assist with training newbies on kayaking safety.
We need more paddling events posted, I have a challenge putting on more
than one or two a week, but based on sign ups the group wants a lot more
of them.
While I will cross post kayaking events to my other groups, I won't cross
post non kayaking events to the kayaking group.
This means a paddle and BBQ will still get posted, as will swim support
via kayak for a triathlon, while a party or a dance won't. For the Party
and Dance crowd, I will be limiting those posting's to the get up and get
out meetup group. Movies if they are about kayaking or about the water we
kayak in will probably still get posted.

Thanks and let's get out on the water soon.
