Seattle Area Sea Kayaking Meetup Group Message Board › Skills Development Discussions › Pool Session availability
With winter approaching, people are starting to ask about pool sessions for developing their roll, etc.
I suspect that those of you with a high tolerance for ice cream headaches will continue outdoors while others won't. It doesn't look like SRK has anything listed for the Meadowbrook Pool in Seattle. I suspect that the Kayak Academy will have something in Issaquah. We have also had requests for pool sessions in south King and Pierce counties as well as in north Snohomish county.
I would like to get most of the local pool sessions posted, so if you know of a specific one, plese email me the information.
thanks - Saul

Whitewater boats / gear available for rent. They work fine for learning to roll.
"Open pool" is in the deep end on lesson nights since the lessons are held in the
shallow end. These guys do a good job
of teaching the sweep roll, and if you don't get it during the lessons you can
come back to open pool, keep praticing, and
they will stop by and give you tips to keep you going.
Sometimes the North Sound Sea Kayakers have something in Lynnwood but I don't see
anything posted at the moment.
The WKC has sessions in Tukwila and Shoreline on alternating Sunday Mornings. They
also use the Helane Madison Pool in N Seattle every other Wed night. Tacoma
Mounties are starting their rolling class in November. They will also start their
weekly pool session in Gig Harbor in January.
Well as there has been some interest, a pool session has been scheduled.
Along with the economy, stock market woes and budget cuts etc., the
pool has cut back on hours, and increased the price for pool rentals. But
investigation of the other possible pools available, it's still the best
deal out there, at least that I can find.

area pools. It's the renting of the "whole pool" in our case that
limits the options.
