East Lake Sammamish Trail

This is a traverse hike from Issaquah to Redmond along Lake Sammamish. It's 12 miles, all flat, all trail, all along the lake.

We will begin by meeting in downtown Seattle and riding the 554 to Issaquah Transit Center, where the hike begins. We we will head north across I-90 across a wonderful new pedestrian overpass, cut through Lake Sammamish State Park, and pick up the East Lake Sammamish Trail on the other side of the park. We will stay on the trail all the way to Redmond. We will return home on bus #545. If there is interest, a post-hike meal in downtown Redmond can certainly be arranged.

Schedule:

Board bus #554 (2nd and Pine) - 9:30 AM
Arrive Issaquah Transit Center - 10:00 AM
Arrive Redmond - 3:00 PM (tentative)
Arrive Seattle - 4:00 PM (tentative)

Feel free to join us at whichever stop along the 554 suits you best. If you live on the Eastside and want to drive to a place to meet us, the post-hike-return-to-car logistics works best if you meet us at Eastgate P&R (join us as the #554 goes by Eastgate Freeway Station approx. 9:45).

I'm sure you guys already know that Metro is under a lot of pressure to cut routes, reduce services and raises fares (fares have been raised four times in the last four years). Call your representatives, especially those at the State level, to support Metro.

Also, look for a measure on the ballot this April to plug the funding gap. In a low turnout election, every vote is critical. If we want to avoid massive service cuts over the next couple of years, we really need this to pass!

Hi Eric! I would like to do this hike. However, I'll be driving from Auburn to meet the group. Please let me know which P&R to meet you at. Also, how would I get back from my car from Redmond? I'm not that familiar with the transit system. Thank you!!!!

Coming from Auburn, your best bet is to drive to Eastgate P&R and join us on board the bus to Issaquah. Look for us at the freeway station next to the P&R approx. 9:45. At the end of the hike, I can show you which bus to take from Redmond back to Eastgate (route 221, if you're curious).

    Is this dog friendly?

    • Eric

Assuming your dog is up for 12 miles, absolutely.

Yeah I'm sure he'll be sad that it's only a 4 hour walk.
