Cob Oven w/Heated Bench Sculpture Work-Party 2 of 2

Please join us to play with earth! In this work-party you will assist with building a decorative wood-fired cob oven and heated bench, in a dragon design using local natural and/or recycled materials.

-Last weekend was an oven success!! Our beautiful brick oven base, our thermal layer and cob layer were initiated in last weekends class, we will be reviewing the processes.

-We will be focusing on mixing/sculpting with cob! because sculpture is an amazing form of artistic expression and where better to express yourself then at a beautiful community farm!

-We will also be building our heated bench, rocket stove and sculpting around an old claw foot bathtub.

-We will be using recycled glass, ceramic tile and plate for decorative elements to the dragons body that will wrap around our bath tub bench and stove!

-We will be learning about how to support our sculptures and ways to waterproof cob!

Allison Dercoli - Experienced Earth house and oven builder on Camano Island will discuss soil and clay testing methods, harvesting materials and full-on oven building from the ground up!

Dates: Work-party 1: March 9-10th; Work-party 2: March 23 & 24. Join us for one or both.

Facilitator: Allie Dercoli

Cost: $50.00 per day

Recommended to bring: hat, mud boots (wool inserts recommended), gloves (rubber tipped recommended), water bottle, dress in layers. Tent, sleeping bag, pad and pillow. Option for sleeping in non-heated barn, bring sleeping bag, pad and pillow.

I tried to post a couple picutres from what they did last week and couldnt figure out how. I went to the photo page but didn't see a way to post them.

Btw, this is not my class. I just posted it for them. I do hope to do a similar project later this summer but it depends on how far we get on other projects. :-)

Do you have any pictures you can share here? This sounds like a wonderful project but I can't make it this Saturday.

I cannot attend this, but if we could put together another date with enough notice I would LOVE to attend! I REALLY want to know how to do this!!
