"GMO OMG" Movie at SIFF

Concerned about Genetically Modified Foods (GMOs, also known as Genetically Engineered Foods or GEs)? You should be. Not sure what they are? Didn't know we'd be voting on their labeling with I-522 on this November's ballot or unsure how to vote? Then this is the movie for you. SIFF is showing a documentary detailing the systematic corporate takeover and potential loss of humanity’s most precious and ancient inheritance: seeds. The movie explores the fears of unknown health and environmental risks, chemical toxins, and how the modern food monopoly meets with the light of a growing global movement to take back what we have lost.

Join me for "GMO OMG" Friday, September 27th at 7:30 p.m. at the SIFF Center at Seattle Center. **We'll meet in the lobby between about 6:50 and 7:10 and then head in for seats, so please be there by about 7:00 if you'd like to sit with the group.** For those who would like to go get a drink and discuss the movie afterwards, we'll meet back up in the lobby after the movie and head over to a "to be determined location" for drinks and discussion. If you miss us for seating for the movie, just look for the group again in the lobby after the movie if you'd like to join us, and I will post the post-movie location here once I determine one.

Washington State has the power to turn the tides on the GMO issue this fall with our potential labeling law, requiring labels for GM/GE foods. Two other states, Connecticut and Maine, have passed labeling laws but they won't be enforced until other states get on board. Your vote could be a catalyst for change. Please come support this movie if you are pro-labeling, join us if you're undecided or unfamiliar with the issues and bring friends who need to learn more about the debate. I will likely have info about GMOs on hand if you'd like to share info with friends and family before November's vote.

There's is free parking available for the first 60 ppl to nab a parking pass and several bus routes in the area. LOCATION, PARKING, BUS INFO HERE

I just tried to buy a ticket online and only "standby" tickets are available. So you have to show up to theater 10-15 min beforehand and hope there are tickets.

I tried that number and they close at 5pm. Maybe I can call the box office? I'd just like to know I have a ticket before trekking down there:)

Hi all, the group will be at T.S. McHughs at about 9 p.m. tonight, after the movie for drinks and discussion. Even if you didn't get into the movie, hope you will join us there! Just look for the group...and my red hair!

It's better for me to attend events on weekends. I spend a lot of time on the internet and do activist work to rid us of GMO's so I don't need to see the film. Am already on the bandwagon!

Yay, Shannon! Keep fighting the good fight!! Email me directly or post ur email here if you would like a flier I created that addresses the 5 or 6 biggest (B.S.) arguments from the "no" side. Happy to have you disseminate it if you'd like. This week (likely Monday), I will be working on the second side, addressing how GMOs are affecting colony collapse. The info is on a half sheet and can be run two sided, for two fliers per sheet, and I have a link for a discount card at Staples (3 cents per copy) if you'd like it, as well! Keep up the great work, sister!

Hi folks, for those of you who RSVP'ed right away, if you bought your ticket immediately, your SIFF confirmation may have stated that the movie is at the SIFF Uptown Theater on QA Ave....IT IS NOT. ** This showing is at 305 Harrison Street.** I just called SIFF and they are rectifying that error.
