Sustainable Capitol Hill: Tool Library

Wouldn't it be great to be able to borrow a ladder or ice cream maker? Sustainable Capitol Hill wants to bring a tool library to Capitol Hill. You can help us. We're strategizing how to make this happen and we need your input. We'll have our home brew to help lubricate the great ideas out of our heads. You can get more info on our website (

Please meet us at Braeburn 1410 E. Pine St. There are two doors, so make sure you go to the 1410 door, where you can get buzzed in (there will be a Sustainable Capitol Hill sign at the door with instructions).

can't attend, but a good place to start might be looking at the model of the NE seattle tool library.

I have used it and it is great, but they do ask for donations yearly and with each check-out for maintenance and purchasing new equipment.

I'm sure a less formal tool sharing program could be organized in which individuals could all contribute something to reach a full compliment of tools as well.

Thanks for the input James. We are actually planning on modeling the Capitol Hill Tool Library on the one in West Seattle (which I believe NESTL also used as a base). Both tool libraries had tools donated, but membership dues are required to pay rent and staffing as well as to help maintain and purchase equipment. We will be having more meetings on this, hopefully you will be able to join.
