Longtime cheerleader for big data, visualization and usability. Spent the last couple decades around program management and now want to learn more about analytics and knowledge representation.
Raw data are lifeless and only superficially accessible to casual browsers. However, through in-depth analysis and smart aggregation one can breathe life into these data, and through visualization they become much more consumable and impactful. Then as more people are helped to bring their unique viewpoints and domains of expertise to the data, knowledge discovery is amplified. This informs the next round of data collection, analysis and presentation, and has impact by helping motivate data-driven real-world change. I also love that clever, elegant and artistic representations of data can inspire "aha" moments.
