Soy As Health Food - True or False?

Soy is being heavily promoted as a health food, and thanks in part to modern processing capabilities, people are consuming soy at higher levels than were possible in the past.  Some form of soy or soy derivative can be found in nearly all prepared foods and supplements.  However, do we truly understand soy and how our modern soy consumption and production techniques affect people and the planet?  When you begin researching soy, health, and the environment, you'll find a large amount of conflicting and confusing information.  Soy supporters refer to many epidemiological, clinical and laboratory studies linking soy to improved heart health, longer life expectancy, and  decreased risk of cancer, among many other benefits.  On the other hand, soy detractors refer to many epidemological, clinical and laboratory studies linking soy to increased heart disease, reproductive and immune system breakdowns, and increased risk of cancer.  So, is soy is a safer and healthier choice for you and the environment, or is it a dangerous and misdirected choice?

In this talk we'll cover some of the controversies surrounding soy, and discuss the traditional ways of making and consuming soy products.
