Pony Planning 2014

I've mostly hashed out the details for the meetup-planning meetup that I've been proposing.  We've done so many interesting things as a group and I certainly want it to continue.

It's basically going to go like this. We're going to review past and current meetups and then we're going to talk about future ones. I think it works much better to do this in a physical group setting.

Update: The pre-meeting survey is now open!

Notes:

- There is a limited amount of free parking.
- Snacks are okay, but we do have to make sure the place is clean afterwards.
- It is a library, so be considerate when entering and leaving the meeting area.
- This event is not sponsored by The Seattle Public Library.

Sorry for disappearing the last few days. Too much CCG stuff (although I do also have some good things to report in that area). I have a pretty good idea of where/when we'll have the next meeting (yay!), but I just need to get some confirmation. I'll also look into a Skype group or whatever.

I couldn't be more pleased with how this turned out. I know we didn't get completely through the survey results (due to all the good discussion in between), but I absolutely loved the enthusiasm and I know we'll be hitting the ground running next time. I was planning on posting the survey results after the meeting, but it might just be a little while before I get those cleaned up. I'll likely have them done soon (almost certainly before the next meeting).

Despite that stuff, I was already seeing a jump in activity before the meeting. I'm actually already going ahead with some things myself right now. I think there's a good chance we'll see some obvious results soon. Thank you everyone!

Also, I'll see what we can do about chat.

I can set up a #SeattleBronies channel on Canternet. I've parked myself in it right now just in case.

We got a lot of good discussion and ideas out there, and hearing the survey results was pretty interesting too! We'll have to do another one of these so we can actually do the planning we were supposed to do at this one XD

Heading out to Blue Moon Burgers at 3:05, so if you arrive after we won't be at the library.

Meeting is still on at 4pm at library, but for food seekers we have left.

We're heading out now... May be a few minutes late, but we'll be there :)

Where we meeting before we food, I mean? Same place?

      January 11, 2014

    • Jonathan S.

I would suggest by the entrance. It's very close though.

I'm sort of under the weather so I'm bowing out today. I'm afraid I'd be in a terrible mood after dealing with traffic and weather!

My 2 bits: More smaller events, more frequently!

I'm going to leave open the survey until midnight, but possibly until tomorrow morning. I'll append any additions as I'm already working through the responses.

For food, I would still like to go somewhere beforehand. There is a QFC across the street though for anyone looking to get snacks for the meeting. I might even bake something myself.

Well, if we mee together t at the library at 3 and then see Blue Moon is too crowded, we can always just go somewhere else. Just make sure we're actually there by 3! (Saying this as much to myself as anyone!)

Alright, sounds like a plan! See you then!

Anyone coming from the Kent area I could hitch a ride with?

Last minute bump. Otherwise I can bus. :)

Just a warning, there's a playoff game in Seattle on Saturday and traffic is likely to be hell. I strongly recommend leaving early.

This is going to be a repeat of that Kanye concert right next door to the last Elements of Melody:

Far less interesting things getting in the way of ponies. :p

I got some pony cards in the mail a couple of days ago. (Rarity / RD starter + 6 packs). Then I read the rules book and made a deck. It's probably bad. I'm bringing it.

Does anypony want to grab dinner and/or drinks and/or a movie or something afterward? I'm not trying to hijack the event or anything, just puttin' it out there as an option!

Card Kingdom does have a lot of card stuff, but they also have a lot of games and puzzles. You can check out things from the desk and I'm positive they have Settlers.

      January 7, 2014

    • David T.

Yeah, if you've been avoiding Card Kingdom because you're not into card games, you've been doing it wrong. It's usually not too hard to find someone who'll play a board game with you, and they have a lot of them you can check out and play right there in the store. :)

I can't attend. However, I left the meeting servery some things. so, at least I left feedback.

I shall make an attempt to come to this! Even if all I do is just listen, I feel like I should at least be there.

I've already got over forty responses to the survey. Not a bad result at all, but more is always better. I've taken a glance at the overview and it's interesting so far.

There is something I wanted to be more explicit about. I do hope you'll all trust me with your responses, but I felt like I should make something more clear if it isn't obvious. If you decide to put your name on your submission, I'm not going to go blabbing to others that you gave a specific answer to something. The reason I put in the option is because I've had the fortune of becoming acquainted with so many of you and you aren't just statistics. If you want me to know for sure that it's you then great. It's actually helpful in some ways (and I'm not talking about being biased either).

I also realize that some of the options are limited, but they aren't meant to be leading. I've geared this thing simply towards meetup scenarios rather than generally profiling the group.

Submitted the survey. Also looking forward to attending this meeting!

I've finally sent out the pre-meeting survey! Let me know if there are any issues with it.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
