Pony Planning 2014: Part 2

Update: We've been able to nail down a most convenient time and place given the Year of the Pony meetup.  Jigsaw Renaissance is also located in the international district just a short walk from where that event takes place.  Come afterwards to chill out and pitch your best/craziest ideas for the group.

I'm glad to have seen so much enthusiasm last time and I'm looking forward to doing another one of these! I can tell that a little bit of discussion is going to go a long way with this group.

Potential topics:

- Wrapping up any last survey bits and comments
- Past/future venues and activities
- Group projects
- Social network/convention presence
- Logo and OC/s (perhaps design/theme in general)

I still plan to have a survey summary out before the next session.  The results have already been rather useful.  I just want something polished out there.

I don't really intend for these sessions to be constant.  To be honest, I wasn't sure we'd do any past the first one.  However, as long as we have something to discuss and the energy is there, I'll be glad to have the occasional one in the future.

I'll say this: What you guys witnessed is likely very close to my final form before ascending to a higher plane of existence. Needless to say, Joshua really does have pretty hair.

How come you haven't joined the IRC channel yet :P

      I'll get there soon enough.

These are just my rough notes from the planning meeting that I was taking. Most of this stuff appeared on the board, of which I posted a picture, but there were a few things that I wrote down that I don't think were on there but were discussed. And I probably missed a few things as well.
I apologize for my atrocious spelling or if I've butchered some names. My autocorect hates me and tried to 'fix' things as I typed them. Sorry.

Thanks for taking all those notes!

The ~flutterquest~ vector is this: http://fehlung.devian.... I suggested a flip to the left, but I believe at least that they voted on that one. I was actually the one handling card game stuff (and mentioning Gail), but of course anyone can assist with that general push. The website is something I've been looking at helping along (it's just a matter of getting in touch with one of the right people in some cases). The Trot for the Cure is in fact June 1 and I'll see what I can do about that.

It is not every day that I get compliments for being handsome and for being a shining light from Asia who will bring everyone into the new world.

    Good job, everypony!

I think we got some real work done and got some great ideas as well as people assigned to implement some of them.

However the ending was truly epic. Those that had to leave early missed out in a way I can't describe. But I'm going to try anyway...

Things were winding down when Steve came back with 2 friends. I'd been warned earlier that he had an eccentric genius friend that might be coming but there was a lady there too. She prompty inserted herself into the middle of the tables and started telling us all how wonderful we were and how much cider she had been drinking. (Yes, actual cider.) Then she noticed the "Until all are fun" Pinkie Pie shirt. Speaking in almost spiritual terms, she informed us of the significance of wearing that shirt on the first day of the Year of the Horse and asked us if we knew what day it was and how important it was.

There really aren't any words, but I've tried my best. Also, if any of this sounds negative, it wasn't meant to be. She was an amazingly sincere person and one of the happiest people I've ever seen. I feel like I ran into actual Pinkie Pie- complete with irl 4th-wall-breaking and ignoring physics.

I never did find out what kind of cider she had been drinking...

And Steve, if you're somehow reading this, your friends are amazing and there was no more possible epic ending to our meeting than what happened.

Will there be food opportunities during this meetup? Or should I eat ahead of time?

Baked chips sound good. I'll probably have some of those. Hopefully they aren't disruptively loud.

Depends on if you eat them earth-pony-style or not.

I'm running a bit late y'all. But I should be there, eh!

I'm currently at Jigsaw downloading the new episode in 1080p onto my laptop with HDMI output. And there happens to be a big-screen TV with HDMI input here...

    Just sayin...

I've been given the key to Jigsaw Renaissance for the day. I have to open up the space at noon for a group before us that's doing auditions for an indie film. I may or may not be able to escape for the Luna New Year stuff. (I'll probably be able to poke out for a bit though.)

Anyway, bottom line for you guys is that I'll be ensuring people can actually enter the building and then Jigsaw itself. (Jigsaw is on the first floor of the Inscape Arts and Cultural Center in the International District.) To enter, use the callbox outside using extension 112 for Jigsaw or call me at "for zeero sven-nein too won-sicks sven to sven." If you get inside the building, just turn right and you'll almost immediately see Jigsaw (with a sign) on your left.

Also, for the people driving here, there's some amount of free back-in-angle parking next to Jigsaw on 6th Ave where my dark green Toyota Corolla will almost certainly be parked.

As I said, I'll probably be able to bow out from the event for a while if necessary. Anyone who needs in after the meeting starts can also contact me.

Jon, hopefully the indie movie people will be able to handle things themselves without one of us being there the whole time after I open for them; but if not, switching off like we discussed would be awesome!

Either way, I'll definitely be there at the start of *our* meetup.

I should be able to make it. I have Coast Guard duty that weekend, but I'll be in the area and (hopefully) off duty by time it starts.

Really hope I can make it to this one, given such short notice.

Note that this is both in the same area (International District) as and right after the Year of the Pony meetup. (http://www.meetup.com/Bronies-Seattle/events/160266812/) Make it a double-header!

@Jon- Want to add this to the description?

    January 26, 2014

    • Jonathan S.

Yeah I planned to mention it. I'll update in a bit.

I'm sorry for the delay on this. I happened to hit a few snags in getting this scheduled, but I think it works out well given the other meetup.
