DocuTalk@SFI (new location)

We have a new location at the Seattle Film Institute facility. It's a fantastic space in a building south of the Ballard bridge.

We welcome documentary filmmakers to network and share ideas. Feel free to bring a short clip of something that you're working on, that you've completed or just something that inspires you. Something to inspire conversation.  If you have some interesting hardware or camera to show off, please do.

So come and meet other documentary film makers / enthusiasts.  You might just meet the next camera operator, editor or producer for your next or current project.  Don't forget to bring your business cards.  We usually run over two hours.  I'm not strict on the time, whatever works for people.

I am interested and open to ideas concerning future meetings.  I'd like your feedback and suggestions.

Can we pursue a speaker with release rights expertise? I think it would make for a good discussion and we could show gray area examples.

Hi Scott...I know a little bit...went to a presentation by some lawyers...if you want to avail yourself of my meager knowledge I would be happy to share it with you. [masked]

Thank you Pat, I am thinking a DocuTalk featuring you, an entertainment lawyer, Raul, and some thought provoking footage might be of common interest?

Another option would be to have everyone post the links to what they're showing beforehand. That way the queue is already created and anyone who can't make it can watch things at home. Might also consider a time limit to fit more people's work in each meeting but I think it went well last night.

I agree. Time limits may help. Was a huge group which is always good to see. Would love to give and get feedback on work and having time to talk about it would be great. Overall...good meeting everyone.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
