April Photo Stroll - Flower World in Maltby

OK folks, listen up, the stroll location is moving a few miles north to Maltby! As much as I'd like to do Chateau Ste. Michelle, it sounds like it's just going to be too crazy.

Flower World is a wonderful plant nursery and garden store that has a lovely park with a big pond, and if you're lucky, a Peacock or two! I'm told the park is in full splendor right now.

And if you have a green thumb, I imagine you might find a plant or two you will want to take home. They have everything!

*Now, here is the important bit: this is a private business. They ask that any and all photos taken, not to be used for commercial purposes. Photos taken on their property are to be for personal use only. They also ask, no tri-pods to be used within the store as their walk ways between the beds are narrow, there are a lot of children and elderly who they don't want to trip. They also have my contact info, so I don't want a call or be held responsible for any misbehavior ;-)

Their website: http://www.flowerworldusa.com/aboutus.html

(Their address says Snohomish, but I guess they're in Maltby?)

If this changes your plans for Saturday, please update your RSVP! I apologize for the short notice.

I'm here, down by the pond. Look for the American flag. Lots of parking in the wooden areas.

Looks like I won't be able to make it after all :(

Flower World is very simple to get to. Take 405 to 522 East towards Woodinville/Wenatchee. Two to 3 miles up there is a stoplight at Paradise Lake Road. Take a left onto Paradise Lake Road. Take the immediate right (you have to go either right or left) onto Bostian/Broadway (you are in Maltby, but yes, Snohomish addresses). Stay straight on Broadway. At Darling & Sons fork left (you're still on Broadway) and go over the railroad tracks. Maltby Pony Ball Fields will be on your left. Take a right on 196th. Entrance to Flower World is on the right. Maltby Cafe is a fantastic place to get lunch or go to for breakfast before the stroll. AMAZING FOOD!

Following the directions above, after going left on Paradise Lake Road and the immediate right onto Broadway, take the first left onto Maltby Road (Hwy 524) and go over the railroad tracks. Malby Cafe and Maltby Pizza & Pasta are on your right. Enjoy!

    Is monopod acceptable?

    April 19, 2013

    • Leilah

I did not ask about monopods for inside use. You could try, and if they ask you not to use it, don't.

I'm not as interested in Flower World, as I was in going to Chateau Ste. Michelle, so I think I will not attend this time.

I am in Kent, available for 2 seats if any of you want a ride.

Busing to Ste Michelle put me right at the edge of where I can bus to. :(

    April 18, 2013

    • Leilah

Sorry, Donna. Someone might be willing to carpool? Or there might be a CT bus that goes to the Maltby Cafe, which is close.

      April 18, 2013

  • John L.

Much better idea. I've been to their old location, but not the current location. The greenhouses will provide protection from the expected rain...

    April 18, 2013

  • Leilah

If you haven't seen yet, I've changed the location for the stroll. The stroll will now be in Maltby at Flower World! Please check out the updated info and take a moment to update your RSVP if this change affects whether or not you can make it. Thank you.

FYI that's just before the Passport to Woodinville event, so the place might be a bit swamped with people both days that weekend. http://www.passporttowoodinville.com/Menu.html

    April 11, 2013

    • Leilah

Yes Teri, I saw that. Their website doesn't really provide much information, especially if you have no clue to what the event is. We'll mainly be outside, everyone else I suspect will be inside drinking wine.

      April 15, 2013

    • Daniel

I haven't attended passport, but I poured at one of the wineries last year and can attest to how crazy it's going to be. It may be difficult to get shots sans drunk people :) That and parking could be a challenge.

Can anyone give me a ride from pretty much anywhere around Seattle? I can' bus to most everywhere but here!

    April 14, 2013

  • Farzad

A reservation isn't required but then you would need to time your presence in accordance to tour cycle. Not too hard to do since they also have wine tasting going on before or after a tour. The tour is interesting and a good opportunity for low light photography.
