July Monthly Photostroll - Jetty Island, Everett

This month’s stroll will be on a SUNDAY, taking us out of town and up to Everett's Jetty Island.

"Wriggle your toes in the warm sand, play in the water and explore the nature trails of Everett’s two-mile long scenic gem. Jetty Island beaches are among Puget Sound’s sandiest and its waters are a kite boarder’s paradise. Come and play!"

There is a Nature Walk at 11:30am that we can join.

(If you're an early bird, I believe there is a beach volley ball tournament starting at 10:30am?)

The ferry runs every 15 mins and is free (but a $2.00 donation pre adult is appreciated). I plan on catching the 11:00am boat! We'll gather near the ferry dock on the island side. I'll wait till 11:20 or so then join up for the Nature Walk. If I get 8+ to commit to the 11:00 ferry, I can call to make a reservation, so let me know. If you commit to that boat, please make sure you are on time!

** Parking at the 10th Street Marina is $3.00 for the day **

If the Nature Walk isn't your thing, that's fine! Feel free to explore the island on your own or start with the walk and then go off exploring. We'll explore the island for about an hour and half (give or take), then head back over. If folks are up for a bite to eat, we can try for Scuttlebutts Brewery. Don’t know how crowded it will be on a Sunday? There will also be the Everett's Farmers Market going on down at the Marina just south of the 10th St. ferry dock.

Remember your sunscreen! I hear there is not a lot shade on the island.

And keep in mind, there will be lots of children, use your better judgment if and when taking their photos. A lot of parents are uncomfortable with strangers taking photos of their kid. Don’t be the creepy guy (or girl).

This will be my first time to the island, so I hope I didn't forget anything? If you have any questions, give a shout out on the discussion board :-)

It was my first meetup so I have nothing to compare it with. I had fun meeting people from the group and hanging with a few at the Scuttlebutt.

No worries Murat! Tell the Everett Transit driver you want to get to Jetty Island. Hopefully they can tell you fast way there! Sound Tranist drivers don't know anything. You might have to walk a ways? But it would be an easy walk. Down hill or flat :-)

Murat! Glen is right, I keep forgetting the 510 & 511 are now the 512 on SUNDAYS! Still just as easy :-) Just a few more stops.

The 510 does not run on Sundays, use the 512 Schedule.

Murat - That's 510 Sound Transit, you can catch it downtown along 4th or behind Nordstrom or at 45th in Udist. Fare is $3.50 one way. Here a link to Everett Transit: http://www.everettwa.org/Transit/TransitSchedule.aspx?xID=E5-U-N-20101121.xml&Sday=3

Hi Murat - Great question! It's pretty easy by bus. Take the 510 to Everett. Get off at Everett Station. At Everett Station catch Everett Transit #5 to Harborfront, get off at 10th St & Craftsman Way. But the route 5 has limited runs on Sunday, so as an Everett Transit driver for a bus that will get you close to the Naval Station and then walk north to 10th St. -- Everett Transit does not take transfers. You will need to pay another .75 cent for the ride.

Might be able to attend..low tide is around 1:30 pm. You'll find on the west side you can walk way out there, lots of neat macro stuff to shoot. On the east side very deep mud, so be careful not to get stuck!

Aditya: "I might not attend this, but I was at the Jetty island last weekend. Super fun place! Make sure to take some sunblock, shades, shorts, and maybe a change of clothes and/or towel so that you can have some fun in the water after the photo walk is done." -- Thanks Aditya!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
