Community of people to consistently shoot with and learn from.
jeremybeasley :: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jeremybeasley I originally got started because of my gadget lust as a tech guy. That quickly changed as I begin to appreciate photography as a way to freeze and immortalize moments in my life. In my senior year of college, my laptop was stolen and I lost 1000s of precious photos to me (lesson learned: backup everything). Also, after Katrina (I grew up in New Orleans), it became hard for me to remember what the city was like back them. While I could also look from other people's photos, I wanted MY perspective from MY photos. :) Again, I realized the power of photography to help spark our visual memory when we're feeling nostalgic.
Favorite subjects: Macro (especially of toys) Interior and Exterior Architecture Landscape (of cities, not nature) Portrait (starting to do more of this as I document my family and friends) I'd also include Street/Travel photography since I've beginning to move around more.
I love the ease of use and the discover of other great photographers. I absolutely ABHOR the Flickr groups feature. Great concept, poorly executed. The discussion board of these groups could be a very powerful way to facilitate critique of photos but there's no way to know if the board has been updated unless you're constantly checking the site daily....FAIL.
Digital although I'd like to learn film at some point.
