I hope to explore photography with some like-minded souls and garner some knowledge from others. Since I spend most of my time being mama, I like to remove myself from my usual life sometimes and get creative...photography lets me do that. Hoping I am able to make it out and find some local photog friends.
It's romans_mama and the url is http://www.flickr.com/photos/romans_mama/ You can also find me on 365 at http://365project.org/romans_mama/365 Started with Flickr or photography?! Flickr, I don't remember. Photography? I have always played around with photography, since my dad got me an SLR as a teenager, then studying it in college, but I then pursued film and video professionally. I now have a renewed passion for sharing my world through the eyes of my camera... probably since I became a parent.
I take entirely too many pics of my now 3 year old son, but he's so bloody adorable and photogenic, I can't help it. He is also a willing model. I will have to teach him how to shoot photos too. I enjoy taking pictures of this great city, sunsets, nature, street photography...as many things as I can try and I am around. My camera(s) go everywhere, which isn't enough places!
I love the broad range of groups, talent and subjects on there, as well as the ease of uploading a lot at one time. I do get frustrated with the sorting and organizing (as it's one of many sites I use and it's hard to keep up), as well the not-so-great notification system of posts, etc. and their crappy iPhone app.
I have never had a great camera until I got one in the spring, my first DSLR, a Nikon D3100...and I hope to learn and grow with my new camera. I have much to learn. I post photos to the 365 project every day so that keeps me snapping. I was making do with a crummy P&S up until then but it encouraged me to think beyond the camera's limitations and get creative again. I also shoot on lo-fi 120 film on a Diana F+ toy camera, and have acquired a couple of other old film cameras too (a Yunon, a Brownie I have yet to test...). Shooting on film forces me to think a lot more about what I'm doing, as well as encourages me to experiment; on film, every shot really does count. I also love all my camera apps on my iPhone.
Brit stay-at-home mama with MS; from England but live in Seattle. Well-scripted in film-making, organizing and baking, with a penchant for animals, my little boy, live music, and a drink or 2. Oh, and a wee bit of photography here and there ;)
