I think we are looking into Jimmy Johns this month!

Speaker:

John Lyon-Smith is the Vice President of Engineering for hotdot.tv, a technology start-up based in Paris, France.  He is a former Microsoftie and a veteran of over a dozen start-ups.  Some were even successful.  He has been a software developer since he was 14 years old, and is as passionate about the field today, three decades later, as he was then.  His career goal is to combine his vast expertise and experience to write software that his mother can use every day.  He also loves coffee.

Hi all - at the beginning of the last meetup someone made an announcement around a design book they were writing. I didn't get your name! Could you reach out to me? Thanks.

This is a technology stack that I have been spending a lot of time with lately. I have 3 apps in the pipeline all using it. It's a pretty broad subject area, so I'd be curious to hear if anyone wants to deep dive into a particular aspect.

Sure, I touch on it in the talk. I will happily stay to have a deeper discussion afterwards as well.

I have a consumer app on iOS, Android and Window 8.1 (not phone). All developed using native code. We are still debating whether to use Xamarin or PhoneGap as all our business logic is in the service stack using AWS and Azure (both). I would love to hear more about what has been your experience working on XAMARIN and if it really helps to use common platform? or any challenges that we should be aware of.
