Some Meetup ideas....these I can teach

Map reading and cross-country land navigation. How to operate a radio net. Build a better bug-out bag. Build a GHB (get home bag). Basic car repair and maintenance. What tools to buy and where to buy. (I used to be a car mechanic). SPAM- the perfect food and how to prepare it. Hasty shelter. Prepping a bug-out vehicle. Alternate fuels - specifically hydrogen from water. How to find water in this area. How to filter water and make improvised filters. Can someone suggest a fairly secure place to meet? Maybe a library conference room or such? It woul d have to be reasonably central so the maximum number of people could attend.

I'll be tending the home fires, so I won't be there.

Armed Defense Training Assoc. <http:// armeddefense .org> (take out spaces) in Federal Way, wants to offer hands-on workshops to community groups. The workshops are about self-defense for women, pepper spray, hand-to-hand defense, intro to handguns, Eddie Eagle gunsafe for kids, knives, and more. They need a group of 15 or more and most of the workshops are free. Contact <membership @ armeddefense .org> (take out spaces). They can travel up to an hour from Federal Way. 'Course, I don't know if that is a "prime time hour" or regular hour.

Every 2nd Thursday at 7 pm, at Brooklake Christian Church, Federal Way, is a free open-to-the-public meeting. Next week is "Stressfire Techniques for Survival". Since THIS meeting is to get Seattle Preppers back on track, I thought I would throw it out as another seminar/workshop topic.

I dunno how long the drive is, and we gotta get a group of 15 or more together before we invite 'em up.

I was glad to meet everyone that showed up! I have planned changes to my bag based on ideas we discussed. I'm always ready to learn. Justen- always ready to meet with a fellow veteran. The fact that we're both ex-infantry was icing on the cake! the idea was floated again to schedule regular meetups at reguler time and places. Ideas?

(darn that return key!) ...see my answer to justen on Dec 7th. Libraries, restaurants, back rooms in businesses, "shooting galleries" (Eastside Preppers meeting at West Coast Armory in Bellevue, Thurs 19th for cooking with free-dried food & emergency preparedness), parks (obviously not this time of year), are just a few ideas. In the past, in another town, the local PUD had a room the public could use for meetings, don't know if that is possible here. BTW, ADTA now has a Meet-up site. The organizer had never heard of Meet-up before (even tho S. PS Preppers were running their [ADTA] meetings). As for me, Monday is a good night...

Its nice to see that there are fellow preppers out there that incorporate self defense instructions as well as survival methods. We should have a meetup at a range to train in small arms.

idk all the run around of trying to find a date and time and place makes hard to plan maybe after the holidays. other wise when I was in the Tulsa preppers they had monthly dinner meetings at like ihop and other restaurants with ample side rooms. everyone had to order something, meet other preppers to network and social. then dinner and demonstrations/ education of various things so if you know of a place with a big side room might work.

CAPR (property rights issues) meets 1st Thurs at Issaquah IHOP; same set-up as Tulsa Preppers. Puget Sound Preppers meets on a Friday nite at Redmond Panera Bread (private room), some order food, others don't. Libraries are possibilities, but only open until 9-10 pm (depends on the library). South Puget Sound Preppers has some events at the Federal Way Library, and some at the courthouse. Tacoma 9/12 meets at Tacoma Library Administration Building & a south Tac. community center. A couple other groups I know of, meet at churches. ACT!Eastside meets at Cedar Park Church in a large room that costs $50/mo.

Ok, so Sunday 1 o'clock it is. Bring any bug out bags you have and after my presentation, we'll do a little show & tell. It's always good to see how other people do things.

    Shoreline is booked. Ideas?

    December 4, 2013

No problem. There is a small chance I might be able to make the Sunday time slot anyway.

    December 4, 2013

I vote for the 8th. On my way home tomorrow, I'll see if a meeting room is available at Shoreline public library. Will that work for you guys?

I live in Mill Creek but work in Seattle, so the Library sounds like a good spot. Sometime early December? Or wait until after the holidays?

sounds fun, any date time, address etc?

I think the University District Public Library may be the most central. It's right near I-5, has a small parking lot but lots of street parking. Whaddya say? A class on BOB's and GHB's? We could also do some show and tell, since everyone has their own ideas...

im am new to WA, currently in kent and would like to network with other preppers. if there are any detail specifics could someone hit me up on fb justen benck please?

    November 11, 2013

  • Jennifer K.

I would certainly attend a meetup about any of those topics. I am most interested in building a proper BOB and a GHB as well as prepping a bug-out vehicle and alternate fuels. I am not sure where the majority of you are located but I know the Snohomish Library has a closed-door room that is almost never occupied. Maybe there is a library more central to everyone that is interested that has the same?

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
