Ian Lurie will talk about "Internet marketing and Dungeons & Dragons"

For all the fans of Marianne Sweeny’s talk last month, Ian Lurie, the head of Portent will be presenting next Tuesday April 8 at Portent. The theme of the talk will be “Everything I Needed To Know About Marketing... I Learned Playing Dungeons & Dragons.” Hope to see you all there. :)

What's even geekier than internet marketing? Dungeons & Dragons. But, can slaying dragons and saving townsfolk from ravaging villains help you become a better internet marketer? Attend this session if you want to hear Ian Lurie riff on the finer points of Dungeons & Dragons, internet marketing, and how the two fit together. Ian Lurie is head of Portent, an internet marketing and technology company he started 1995. At Portent, he leads in-house training and works with his team as they develop new tools. He recently co-published the 2nd edition of the Web Marketing All-In-One for Dummies and wrote the sections on SEO, blogging, social media and web analytics. He's recorded training for, writes regularly for the Portent Blog and has been published on AllThingsD, and TechCrunch. And, Ian speaks at conferences around the world, including SearchLove, MozCon, SIC and ad:Tech.

His random educational background includes a B.A. in History from UC San Diego and a degree in Law from UCLA. Along the way, he's been an amateur competitive cyclist, a bike messenger, a roof consultant, a technical writer and an Adobe FrameMaker consultant. You may find him teaching his kids to play D&D on the weekends, or dragging his tongue on the ground as he pedals his way up Seattle's ridiculously steep hills.
