Celebrate IA, UX, Library & Tech Geekiness

We've added some check-in & registration time to the evening. We'll open doors at 6:30 pm and start the talks around 7:30 as possible. Although the event is now full, spots may open up. We will maintain a waiting list and keep everyone updated. Attendance fee is $10 and comes with pizza, beer and soda pop.

Good news! This month we have two very special presentations. GeekGirlCon will present a brief usability workshop and CMS & Content Strategist Paula Land will give a short talk on technology & content projects

GirlGeekCon:

GeekGirlCon celebrates and honors the legacy of women contributing to science and technology; comics, arts, and literature; and game play and game design by connecting geeky women world-wide andcreating community to foster continued growth of women in geek culture through events. It will take placeAugust 11th and 12th at the Washington State Convention Center.

We are a team of eight women who will be presenting an interactive workshop at Geek Girl Contitled "Using UX to make websites sexy." In the spirit of iteration and failing fast and often, we're using theIA/UX meetup attendees as guinea pigs. We will present our entire workshop exactly as we plan to do itat the con, and then take your feedback about how to make it even more fun and effective.

Paula Land:
Leading with Strategy: Putting Content Before Technology

Paula will speak to how Content Strategists and Information Architects can—and should--work closelywith business analysts, technical teams, and business stakeholders to keep the content and the user--internal and external--at the forefront of technical design and implementation decisions. She'll talk brieflyabout what works (and doesn't work), tools and techniques you can bring to your IA & content projects.

Huge thanks to our speakers Paula Land, Sarah Davies and the whole GeekGirlCon crew. Thanks to everyone who came, great questions from all! I personally enjoyed seeing the activity stations and hope we can do more at future events. Start working on your ideas :) There are presentation and Workshop opportunities at IA meetup & Infocamp!

All waiting list folks have been added to the "attending" list so that they can be checked in at the door.

Yes, there will be a waiting list. Please folks, if you RSVP and can't make it, change your status.

We can't look for another venue for this event, but we will gladly accept volunteer help in finding venues and planning future meetups. Next big venue is coming: INFOCAMP October[masked]http://seattle.infocamp.org/blo...
