The Seattle IA/UX Meetup is Growing Fast!

We have four awesome bits of information to share with you.

1) Last night was one of our biggest Meetups yet! Huge thanks to our Sponsor Übermind (fueled by Deloitte) and speaker Jesse Herlitz (@Sostereo) for talking to us about playing well with developers & designers. Great talk, great company (and they’re hiring!). And thanks to all attendees for chipping in so we could stay longer and eat more.

2) Next month, we’re excited to host a panel on HTML Prototyping with Matt Turpin (Fell Swoop), Bram Wessel (FatDUX), and Kevin Wick (Frog Design). Same location. Please RSVP as space will be limited.

3) We added a message board to our space so we can all connect by a forum other than email. If you have an event to share or a job to advertise, you can use the board. We will try to make sure it is not full of spam but we hope you will all help mold the space into something useful.

4) Sponsored by You (or the rising cost of Cheese & Microbrews):
We love hosting meetups at Piecoras. They provide a great space with a projector, food & fantastic service all for the price of the meal. However, it does cost $$$ to use that space - much less than most Seattle venues - but we have to ask our community members to contribute so we can ‘make the rent.’ Even with sponsors, we’ve been routinely short by a big number. We need to make this shift in format to account for our growing ranks.

Starting in June, we will ask that attendees contribute $10 per meetup (the cost of two slices, a beverage, and other associated expense). When we have sponsors, we may be able to lower (or abolish) that price - so bring us your sponsors! We want to have speakers, training and great topics at every meetup, so share your suggestions with the organizers (Misty and Isaac).

If the new $10 rate doesn’t work out, we’ll come back to you and discuss next steps.

See you on June 12th!
