Shop at Value Village for the homeless in Seattle

Hello Volunteers,

Let's get together or shop on your own time at Value Village stores.  You can meet me in at the Kirkland location or you can shop at any Value Village stores in your area and bring the donations to 6th Ave and Columbia St. (please see the calendar for our Sunday serve times and info about aokfriends.org).  You can also arrange your donation to be picked up with Amiga Debbie (please send an email).

For a location near you: http://www.valuevillage.com/find-a-thrift-store.aspx  At Value Village, find out what the special color tag is and the clothing, shoes, etc. will cost .99 cents each.  Acts of Kindness serves every Sunday under the bridge and many of the homeless need jeans (sizes 28-42, preferable 32 to 38 waist and 30-32 length), socks, winter coats, sweatshirts, blankets, etc.

I hope we can gather enough items to help between 80 to 100 homeless folks during AOK Friends Sunday serves.

Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity.

...a little P.D.A. goes a long way <3

I was able to get a loaner car in the afternoon, but only found 3 pairs of jeans and 5 pairs of shoes. I'll try next Monday when the store opens, 9am is the best time to shop at Value Village.

Hi I will just shop at my nearest value village since I don't live on the east side.

I had car problems last night and will not be able to meet at Value Village at 9am until the problem is fixed. Will try to shop later in the day if able to. Thank you for signing up to shop and donate winter items to the homeless in Seattle and for making a difference in our community.

Hey Debbie! I have 4 bags to donate. Is there anyone on the eastside willing to take them downtown? If not for this week, another time?

Hi Nyla, message me, I'm on the Eastside and can pick them up this week. Got a loaner car from the shop. Send me a message. Thank you so much for your donation!

I see the hours are 9am-9pm.. will someone from this group be there the entire time to collect our donations? Or what we buy we have to transport to Seattle? Also.. on Sunday for the Acts of Kindness, what time is that? Sorry for all the questions ha.

Anyone donating a nice amount of winter items will receive a box of Peruvian cookies. Peruvian cookies are butter cookies filled with Dulce de Leche called "Alfajores". If you would like to buy a box of Alfajores, please bring $10 per box (the money will go towards the purchase of more clothing for the homeless). Please let me know how many boxes you would like to buy. Pick up on Sunday, Oct. 6 between 1pm and 2pm. ...a little P.D.A.* goes a long way. Thank you very much!

What an excellent project! I have several friends who work or who have worked at the Union Gospel Mission serving the homeless.

I live south of Seattle so I may end up just donating somewhere closer to me, but I really like this idea!
