Last Sunday

That's 5 weeks so far that our 2011 has been awesome, amazing, and all of the above!  Last Sunday, new friends as well as returning friends showed up to give friendship to one another and to our homeless friends in the community.  One of our leaders in training learned even more about our serves and another friend was inspired to possibly take on being a leader as well!  Thank you to everyone who came for making possible the space for us all to love one another in the spirit of friendship.

Upcoming Events
New leaders! - We are entering a Golden era as a community where we are beginning to branch out and expand the difference that we make for those in our community.  One way we're doing that is we are giving leadership to others.  We are currently looking for people who want the opportunity to be at the source of an amazing event, our Sunday serves.  So far, 2 people have accepted, and we still have room for more.  If you are interested in leading a Sunday serve, please contact us.

How you can help
It's great to know that so many people have the spirit of friendship and giving, and let's support one another in expressing that in our own unique ways.  For some, coming out to cook and/or give out food is their way of expressing acts of kindness.  For others, it's donating money or food.  There are infinite ways to express an act of kindness, and you really are the source of that.  Every time you come and hand out food or have a conversation with another person, you really are taking the spirit of AOK Friends and creating it in reality as your own.  Here are a few ideas of how you can express yourself as the spirit of friendship.

Getting involved with creating and holding fundraisers
Creating a more lively, warm atmosphere at the serve site.  This can include recruiting musicians to perform at serves, providing decorations for the Meal Site, or anything else you see would create a more friendly environment.
Hold Creation Meetings where you get together with others devoted to creating friendship in the world and present and develop ideas you have.
Anything you come up with, we invite you to share with others.  It's by your letting others know your ideas and who you are about them that they are able to contribute and bring ideas to reality.

What a great January we had, now let's have an amazing February!  Thank you to all of you for being the amazing, loving people you are and for making such a difference for the people in your lives and in our community.  For those of you who come out on Sunday, we'll see you then!
