Chill with Automattic ( Matt included! ) at the Seattle Computer Museum

YOU CAN STILL REGISTER!! If you want to come please do! RSVP that you are coming so we have a rough estimate of numbers. The people on the attending list will be receiving the free tickets, however we still want you to show up. Everyone is welcome. If you are not on the attending list the cost at the door is $20. See below for more details

Calling all WordPress Nerds! Automattic is coming to town!

Seattle has the privilege of hosting training for part of the Automattic team in March. To show our support and appreciation for Automattic's contributions to our community, we are hosting a mixer at the Seattle Computer Museum. The Museum has graciously opened a private showing for us. Food and drink will be provided, as well as full access to the amazing exhibits the museum offers.

Pay attention to this part: The first 25 members to sign up will get in the door for free, thanks to a generous donation from Automattic. RSVPing to this event is limited to those 25, but do not fret. If you did not make the list you are still happily invited along, however there will be a $20 entry fee. That is for food, drink, and the museum providing the private session for us.

This is a great time to rub elbows with some of the legends in the WordPress community. Matt Mullenweg is also currently planning to attend.

Hope to see you there!

P.S. Even if the 25 free spots are taken you should register for the waiting list. If you find you cannot attend PLEASE change your status so someone on the waiting list can pick up your free ticket.

Fantastic venue! Definitely a trip down memory lane. Matt Mullenweg aptly stated it as the best location that has ever been for a meetup!

Thank you all for coming and making the event such a success! I had a great time and the museum has asked us to host more events there in the future. Would you all like that? ;).

If you took photos we would love it if you shared them with us. A few have been posted already, but I know some of you got some good shots off

Well, I think that open invitation is a very cool idea. Seems like the space works best for networking, not presentations, etc. In fact, I must admit this was one of the best networking only events I have attended a quite some time.

Did anyone get a good photo of Matt? Maybe a group shot of him with the group organizers? I saw some one taking lots of photos of him talking at the podium. And I saw some one doing video of his talk.

I agree with everyone, this was a great meetup and lucky that you were able to pull this together while Matt and Automattic was in town. Cheers to both Bryan and Ben for the great job. And yes, very cool Automattic picked up the tab. The venue just topped off the whole event.

This event was fantastic! Thanks for organizing it and I hope you do this again, maybe as an annual event if you could get Matt to attend each time. Maybe hold the next world wide WordPress convention here.

Thanks Bryan & Ben for organizing! It's great to be part of the Seattle WordPress community. :)

I had a great time and definitely felt my age when I saw my first computer, the Vic 20. "Please press play on tape . . ." Really cool museum.

Thanks also to Automattic for picking up the tab!

Truly was awesome! And FREE! Loved that! Thank you so much for getting it together and making it such a fine event. The museum is amazing and I got to meet my hero, Matt. Without WordPress I have no idea what I would be doing for my livelihood. Walking dogs? Such a great community! Thank you thank you!

I realize terms have changed so everyone can get in free - great! but wanted to thank y'all for diligently updating status regardless. I'm almost in the door and grateful :) had just moved up from the waiting list.

I stopped in and got a private tour of the museum today so we could work out some final logistics for tomorrow event.
They are going provide tours during our event tomorrow but they only take about 15 people at a time for each tour. It is pretty cool, these people are very passionate about what they do and know a great deal about the history of their exhibits.
You are welcome to just hang out and socialize or interact with the computers in the museum.
    See you all tomorrow night,

There seems to be some spam that my blog received and I am no longer listed on Google. Does anybody have any resources that can help with this? Or does somebody contract out their services that can help with this problem? Thanks.

Something else came up - I can't make it. So bummed!

    March 4, 2013

So I am assuming by being added to the wait list means an RSVP, just that we pay at the door, right?

    March 2, 2013

    • Ben L.

That is correct Bob. I know it is a funky way to do it, but there is no other method I could find

      March 2, 2013

    • Bob D.

yeah, that's what I figured... glad I'm able to make it -- well worth the $20 :)

Is training part of the evening, or is it more social networking and seeing the museum?

    March 1, 2013

    • Ben L.

Automattic is doing training separate from this get together. This is networking and museum only.

      March 1, 2013

Very cool that they are here and hosting this reception. Can't make it but I'm sure everyone will have a great time...
