February Meetup - Multisite Plugins & Dev Tools

This month we will be hearing from our own Ben Lobaugh.

Because Multisite is such a broad and popular topic this month will be Multisite part two. It will be a two part session with half focused on useful plugins and half on tools for developers.

Note that portions of this event will be more technically oriented. There will still be topic breakout groups after the talk.

Note the time change!

We will be starting a half hour later than normal this month at 7 PM.

I've not been to this location yet; how's parking?

    February 13, 2014

    • Lynn A.

I found street parking, free after 6, both times, with little driving around.

      February 14, 2014

    • Ben L.

There is a parking lot across the street and another big lot on the side of the next building over. Both paid

I'm still researching, but looking for plugins that will tie our company's AD to users in wordpress. Also trying to figure out how to have a common menu across all sites, with each site contributing to it's own menu. If I could sit and talk with whoever has experience in these 2 areas, let me know!

Im in desperate need of some hands on tutoring. Im doing my capstone for Bellevue College which is due March 17th and everyone said wordpress would be the best thing for my client since they will want to make social networking posts, have an event calendar, a form connecting paypal etc, but having a really hard time wrapping my brain around all this!!! Being unemployed I dont have a lot of money but if it came down to it it would be worth it to me. Im also a graphic designer and would love to trade as well! Im in Kirkland and could come to you and work around your schedule.

Please HELP!!! Good Karma will come your way I promise! ~ Namaste

Fantastic info. Looking forward to building a M/S build. Thank you Ben. Great presentation.

Regret that I couldn't make it. Had too much work.

Was good - since all the in's & outs of something like Multisite can take hours and hours - having the Plugin's that help make a successful install work is helpful to anyone working with M/S - just knowing which plugin's help work saves hours and hours of work and gives people a good place to start

    I'll looking forward to it!
I'd love some help on a appearance/customize/layout that is not working if anyone has time. I posted my issue on the discussion page as well.

So sad I can't make it. Multisite plugins is a topic I need to learn about now. But flu wins. :-(

I was not able to attend the January meetup. Since this is a follow-up; second part, to the Multisite info will I be too lost? I do not know much about multisites at all.

If anyone has experience with customizing the Events Calendar Plugin (http://wordpress.org/plugins/the-events-calendar), I'd love to chat with you. I'm investigating extending it to enable importing additional fields.

    February 12, 2014

    • Tanner M.

I've also done a fare amount of customizing with The Events Calendar and would be happy to chat.

      February 12, 2014

    • Carole S.

Thanks you two! I've found the documentation to be pretty good in terms of customizing the theme. What I'm trying to figure out now is whether I can extend the plugin's import feature to support fields it doesn't import natively. I've started slogging through the code to see if I can figure things out and would love to chat with anyone that has looked into this area.
