The Sunrise Walkers website is now online! Check it out...sign up...take some time to explore the site...and show up at 5:30AM!
This sunrise walk occurs when the light is the longest and the night is shortest. The earth is the warmest, and nature is brimming with growth and full blooms. The earth has reached its fullness with the sun’s most northerly journey. For several weeks around the Solstice, there is an apparent stillness of the sun. Throughout the ages, this period has been seen as a marker for time, for planning the year, for visions, and for inward and outward manifestation.
Walking in the warmth of the summer sun at sunrise will have its own special feeling. The earth will radiate its life and vitality. You can join the walk at any time, or walk through the entire year. We have a docent from the Robert Ferguson Observatory who will speak on the Summer Solstice. On the day of the Summer Solstice, we will walk to a local Labyrinth and be led by a certified Labyrinth director.
The weather can be variable at sunrise. Please wear clothing that will keep you warm, dry and comfortable. We suggest wearing a good pair of walking shoes and bringing water if you like to hydrate on walks. This walk is for you! Whatever this walk unfolds for you, we encourage it. Your path is respected.
The Sunrise Walk is sponsored by the Numina Center for Spirituality & the Arts.
