Celebrate Cinco de Mayo at the Naptown barBAYq Festival

Annapolis, having FUN, live music, and lots of BBQ are a great fit for a Sunday afternoon celebration of Cinco de Mayo.  And the Naptown barBAYq festival at Anne Arundel County Fairgrounds has got it all covered.

General admission is $10 and parking is free.  There will be many options for eating, drinking, listening to live bands, and checking out the vendors.

This is the 3rd annual weekend barBAYq Festival sponsored by the Rotary Club.  About 15,000 people attended last year, so it's a major event. Proceeds from the festival support numerous local children's charities.

Full details about the Naptown barBAYq Festival are here:

http://www.barbayq.com

Look for Jake's neon white hair to find us, or call me at[masked] if you have trouble locating the group.  I plan to arrive and commence celebrating at 1:00 pm!

I hope to see you there!

What a terrific event! Gluttony at its best! I left with 2 souvenirs, a BBQ "buck" and a lovely sunburn...darned fair skin! Enjoyed everyone's company. Thanks Jake for organizing this!

Once again Rev Jake you were able to part the gray skies and make for a beautiful sunny fun day!! Thanks for planning a great day with lots of wonderful new friends :)

The barBAYque event was a fun way to spend time with new and old friends hanging out in the sun drinking beer and eating BBQ. The bands were good too. It's not a huge event, but I liked that we weren't overwhelmed by big crowds. There were plenty of fun people attending and we had a great time. Thanks to everyone who attended, and special thanks to Alissa, Jane, Randy, Karen, and Sheri who donated their extra "bucks" to buy me some beer. God loves ya, and so does Rev. Jake...

It really was a perfect day to listen to the bands, eat BBQ and raise a glass. Thank you for organizing it, Jake.

    Hi everyone,
Jake's right, it's not a fancy shindig and you can buy tickets at the gate so where casual clothes and comfy shoes. You will park in a field and walk a short distance to the gate. The BBQ contestants are on the right side as you come to the gate, the festival will be to your left. There's not a lot of shade there so bring a hat/sunscreen maybe a chair or blanket to sit on the lawn (it can be muddy) and listen to the music. It's not a big area but can be difficult to find a meetup group if you're new and people are wondering around so take Jake's number with you. Jake, you need to design a coat of arms/flag to fly at your events so people can find your group - what about a red flag with a draft beer on it? :)

    May 2, 2013

    • Jake

Excellent information, Donna. Thanks. But I don't need a flag when everyone recognizes the blinding white hair. I just tell people to look for the guy with white hair and they always find me. It's worked for the past 30 years...

Hey Donna....I'd like it! And that way I'm fully commited and won't cop out just cuz I'm tired!

I have a spare ticket from the two for $10 deal - assuming I can find it in my email. Anbody need a ticket? $5 and Let me know and I can meet you at the gate on Sunday.

Can you just pay to get in when you get there or do you have to buy tickets online?

    May 2, 2013

    • Jake

I think you can pay at the gate since they want walk-in people. That's what I'm doing. This is not a fancy shindig where you need advance tickets from what I see.

Jake, I know that your personality and white hair make you easy to distinguish but could you perhaps narrow down a bit a place to meet:)?

    May 1, 2013

    • Jake

I've never been to AA fairgrounds, so I don't know an exact place to meet. Also, people will arrive at different times. Look for me near the beer & BBQ (which should be everywhere).

We always follow the fun at our events, so nobody knows the schedule or what people will do. The festival ends around dinner time.

I found it, thanks. Not a member and silly me, had it on Baltimore. Purchased the VIP for Sunday. While the rest are standing in line for the bathrooms, you and I will be in the VIP section. LOL.

Okay Paul, no problem. I had trouble finding it on Living Social. Can you give me the specifics on how to locate? I am always up for when beer is included :)

    April 9, 2013

    • Paul S.

It's right on the Living Social Annapolis page when I pull it up, assuming you are signed up with them.

Sounds like a great deal. Does it mean you bought for 2 people? If so, I would like to split it with your.

    April 8, 2013

    • Paul S.

Jane, no, not for two. The ticket I bought gets you a couple of "free" beers and food tastings, etc. It's just for one.

      April 8, 2013

  • Paul S.

There's a 2Fer deal on Living Social Annapolis that just hit my email this AM. Also, there's a Sunday VIP for $22. I went for that one. You only live once.

    Count me in :)
