Baltimore's Creative Alliance is holding it's annual Great Halloween Lantern Parade & Festival in Patterson Park on Saturday afternoon and evening. It's a FREE and creative, family-friendly festival where people wear costumes, make lanterns, listen to music, take hay rides, etc. during the afternoon. As it gets dark, they form a parade at 7:00 pm to march around the park, light up their custom homemade lanterns, and float them on the lake with much revelry.
Like Artscape and the Kinetic Sculpture Race, this is a featured Baltimore's Best event that's quite colorful and spectacular. The residents of Baltimore's neighborhoods really get into doing these events, and it's always a hoot watching and joining them. I've never been to the Halloween lantern festival, so let's check it out. It's all explained in the following short video:
In addition to the festival and parade, the best Baltimore food trucks will be at Patterson Park on Saturday holding THE GATHERING, which is their weekly joint appearance with music and beer/wine to offer with the food. Baltimore's food trucks are renowned for their variety of interesting and tasty eats. This is a great opportunity to compare and try them out at one fun spot in conjunction with all the other activities. Check out the list of food trucks and THE GATHERING schedule here:
We'll start with refreshments at Sharky's Bar & Grill right by Patterson Park. It's a popular REAL Baltimore local bar that's highly-rated on Yelp.
Then we can head over to the park to enjoy the festival and eat at the food trucks. And when it gets dark, the parade of lighted lanterns and costumes should be a terrific fun experience!
I hope to see you there!
