See the Navy's Blue Angels Perform in Annapolis

This will be a fun afternoon hanging out in Eastport to see the Navy's famous Blue Angels perform. Their exciting air show starts at 2:00 pm and lasts approximately two hours. Our SHR group will meet at Davis' Pub at 12:30 pm for preliminary refreshments and food before walking a few blocks over to Horn Point to get a good view of the show when it starts.

Annual Commissioning Week at the U.S. Naval Academy is a festive occasion all over Annapolis. There are numerous graduation ceremonies and celebrations throughout the week that attract parents and visitors, but the highlight for most people is an awesome special performance by the Navy's Blue Angel precision flight team over the Severn River by the Academy grounds.

Finding a good place to watch the Blue Angels show is a challenge due to enormous crowds, limited public vantage points, and tight parking in town. Annapolis harbor itself will also be jammed with boats wanting to get the best up-close views from the water.

However, we should be able to get a clear view of the Blue Angels, the Naval Academy, and the Severn River from Eastport, which is across Spa Creek from the crowded center of Annapolis. There are many possible vantage points in Eastport, but our favorite spot is a small public beach at the tip of Horn Point peninsula. That's where we'll head first, and make adjustments if necessary.

After the air show, we can visit the Boatyard Bar & Grill to enjoy its well-regarded happy hour. We often go to the Boatyard and always have a nice time.

Adequate parking is available in Eastport along the streets and at the shopping center on Chesapeake Ave.

I hope to see you there!

I'm sorry I missed the event. I've seen them a couple dozen times but would have enjoyed the social aspect. I'm looking forward to catching up on Saturday in Chestertown.

The Blue Angels were breath taking. It was a performance that everyone needs to experience. Super pre and post gatherings at Davis'Pub and Boatyard provided a chance to catch up with old friends and time to meet new friends. Jake , thanks ! Put this on the Top Ten Events List !

Arriving early with lunch at Davis' Pub was a good call. Able to beat traffic and start off with food and drink. Then a Pleasant walk to SHR's favorite Eastport pocket park, Horn Point, which offered a nice view of Annapolis Harbor. The Blue Angels were Spectacular, and I'm glad they're on our side. thanks Jake for putting together a fun day!

Wow! It was an awesome afternoon with old and new friends starting out at Davis' Pub. The weather was perfect with some clouds and cool temps, but no rain. The Blue Angels were terrific! The jets came from over us, to the front of us, and all around for an hour of impressive performance. We then went to the Boatyard Grill for drinks and food. A great day that we'll do again next year. Thanks to all who attended.

So sorry - got tied up with my volunteer work this morning and did not get out on time. Obviously because it's 12:38 and I'm in Virginia still I'm not going to make this. :(

You guys have fun, I'll be working. The Blue Angels are amazing. Everyone should take and wear ear plugs. You can buy them at any drug store.

This is my first meetup with the group and I am so excited! I am leaving from Frederick to come out there. I am a bit worried about traffic. Should I try to leave early morning and just hang out until the event?

Zoom in on the Google map of Annapolis to see how the roads work from Forest Dr. to Davis' Pub. It's not hard, but it's a little confusing when the roads change name. Stick to the main road and you'll be fine. I'll see you there!
