Second Act: Love Matters is about creating meaningful connection with others who can make a positive difference in one another's lives through self-discovery, sharing, and service to others. Second Act: it's about time... to embrace your future!
Our community is uniquely tailored to the needs and interests of middle-aged people with a certain level of maturity and life experience who wish to find meaning and meet kindred spirits. Our mission is to provide the inspiration, hands-on know-how, sharing of personal stories, as well as connections you'll need to get the most out of life in the years leading up to and following retirement, whatever that is.
Welcome to your Second Act: Love Matters community, the place to plan your future, imagine your new life, find your next adventure, and people to share the journey with. Our mantra: Everyone deserves the chance to chase new dreams. Your first 40 or so years may have been successful or not. Your next 40 can be even better–the choice is yours.
This community is geared toward "Baby Bloomers" and "Gen neXters" but welcomes whoever feels at home. The Boomers started exceeding expectations the moment they were born, and Gen Xers joined them. Second Act: Love Matters is all about helping them continue to surprise the world–and themselves–with their talent, passion and potential. These are the generations that are eagerly ditching the midlife crisis in favor of a midlife opportunity and community revival.
Reinvention, Not Retirement I'm excited to be the organizer of Second Act: Love Matters, which is an exploration of the exciting potential of men and women less interested in retirement than in reinvention. My own views about the possibilities of a Second Act: Love Matters were inspired by my journey and that of countless others.
I only discovered my Second Act a few years ago, and I'm so happy I did. However, it was a remarkably lonely process, and it would have been so much richer if I had a community of kindred spirits to share it with. For the last few years, my eyes were truly opened while working on a book project about the need for and the endless possibilities that come with a Second Act. By interviewing hundreds of middle-aged people, I heard amazing stories and met remarkable people.
When did our youth-obsessed culture collectively decide that our expectation for greatness fade by 40? Or 50? Or even 80? Second Act is here to say it does not.
Second Act is here to share a wealth of opportunity to meet liked-minded people, and be inspired by happy, successful Second Act Lovers, ordinary people who reinvent themselves in extraordinary ways through their relationships and work, and show the rest of us how to do it, too.
Be Bold Before Too Old Yes, we're all growing older. Our goal for Second Act is to inspire you to keep growing and going strong at every age. I hope you'll join us often, and I invite you to share your ideas, inspirations, and your own Second Act stories with us.
I'm the organizer of another related Meetup called: "Second Act: Creating a meaningful middle age and beyond." Many members are single from whom I've learned about the special challenges in midlife such as dating, alone togetherness, separation, divorce, widowhood, and changing personal tastes and values. In middle-age, it is difficult enough to find meaning and connection with kindred spirits, but it is particularly challenging to find what you love to do, and with whom, yet so rewarding.
Thank you. Whitney Vosburgh
PS Second Act: Love Matters is dedicated to understanding the nature of connection and the essence of change. Connected living brings richness to life and a sense of meaning and possibility that escapes us on our own. Come be part of Second Act and get a mid-life!
Without action, without decision, you remain in possibility, which is safe and beautiful but eventually enervating and boring. So, won’t you join us today and embrace your future?
