Announcing a new Meetup for Secular Bible Study!

What: The Non-Institutional Church: Back to the Future

When: Tuesday, September 21,[masked]:00 PM

Where: Trinity United Methodist Church
2511 Taylor Street NE
Minneapolis, MN 44418

The Christian church is once again approaching a period of dramatic destabilization as various cultural shifts (of which a "Secular Bible Study" is a sign) erode support for an increasingly rigid institutional church. This is not a new phenomenon. This cycle of institutional rigidity being broken up by popular and non-institutional movements has been occurring throughout the long history of the church. Chad Koppes, scholar of practical theology and Pastor of Prospect Park United Methodist Church, will guide SBS attendees in asking, "What can we learn from the earliest church communities prior to their widespread institutionalization in the 4th century? How can their experience inform us without falling into the trap of idealizing the past? And what might the de-institutionalized church of the future look like?"

Don?t miss an important and timely SBS topic about Christianity?s past and future! RSVP "Yes" today!
