Subject: The Didier Seminar on Religion & Contemporary Thought

Hi Everyone,

I've been asked to pass on information on a series of presentations by Dr.
Amy-Jill Levine from Vanderbilt University on the Jewishness of Jesus and the
New Testament. I heard speak several years ago on Jesus as a "Misunderstood
Jew". Now she has written a version of the New Testament annotated from a
Jewish perspective.

From March 28 thru 30, House of Hope Presbyterian Church and Mt. Zion Temple
are combining efforts to present 3 days of lectures on topics related to Jesus
and Judaism and the on-going issue of the relationship between Christianity and
Judaism. These are issues for the Biblical scholar, but also for anyone
concerned with how faith can unite or divide us.

This is your chance to discover if Jesus was just a nice Jewish boy or if He
was on a mission from God. (Maybe He even was God.) This should be a truly
thought-provoking series.

The Didier Seminars sponsored by House of Hope Presbyterian Church has brought
national and world class speakers to the Twin Cities on religious topics of
interest to all.

I'm including you because this is a program which Secular Bible Study
members might find of interest, too.

Hopefully see you all there,

Steve

Frank Addendum: Hi SBSers -- Because the three main lectures by Dr. Amy-Jill Levine -- on Saturday, March 29, 8:30am at House of Hope Presbyterian Church at 797 Summit Ave., St. Paul (entering through the church doors on Portland Ave.) -- will cost an event registration fee of $10 per person, this event is not free, although it is open to the public. Details of these main seminars, to be given sequentially from 9-noon that day, and after lunch at 1-2:30pm, whose titles are, "Seeing Through Different Lenses: How Jews and Christians Interpret Scripture," "The Common Mistakes Jews and Christians Make About Each Other," and "How to Teach Jesus in His Jewish Context, Using [Dr. Levine's] 'The Jewish Annotated New Testament,'" can be found by clicking on the PDF flyer for this Didier Seminar event, which I've posted on the SBS website "More" menu "Files" subsection. -- Frank
